Laptop

Does anyone know if you have to take your laptop out of the bag to go through the scanner? Like you would have to do at the airport. Just wondering because we will be bringing our normal one and then 2 more as surprise gifts for our girls. We are hoping to get through security without them seeing.

I think it depends on the port.

I don't think you'll know until you get there. Even if one would go through without challenge, seeing 3 of them might raise questions and prompt them to want to take a look. Can you send the girls through first with one of you, making sure the laptops are in the last bag checked? You might maintain the surprise that way. Chances are they will be so excited about everything that they won't pay that much attention. Good luck!

For our recent Century cruise we didn't have to remove our iPad and laptop from our bags. In fact I can't recall having to to this on any of our cruises done in the last few years at least. Also didn't need to do this for TSA for our recent flights to catch that last cruise.

Airport security you probably will unless you put them in 3 separate bags and let then go that way, they sometimes let a single pass thru if its not stuffed in with lots of things.

Boarding ship, I haven't had to remove any of my electronics from the bags. I took 2 laptops and 2 iPads in a single briefcase on my TA planning to do lots of maintenance on my files which I never got to doing... ;-)

Thank you for all of the replies. it certainly gave me something to think about. I think we will make the girls go through first, me next with one and dad at the end with the other two. That way he doesn't have 3 to deal with and it doesn't sound like I would have to take just one out. I really appreciate the insight!
