cynthiacruz Posted December 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2013 On my last two cruises on carnival I felt most of the movements in the show lounge when playing bingo at night others say the aft section has most movement Sent from my SPH-M840 using Forums mobile app

arush5268d Posted December 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2013 The higher up you are the more movement you will feel. Dending on the seas the further forward/aft you are could increase movement felt. If the waves are on the ships beam then forward/aft won't make a difference. Generally speaking - being in the middle, lower deck makes a small difference. Even the 'small' 70,000 GRT cruise ships of today handle the seas very well and due to the size of the ship there is not that much difference regardless of where you are on the ship. OCruisers Posted December 15, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 15, 2013 High decks, Forward do "rock & roll" a bit. Some enjoy this more than others. :D LuLu ~~~~
happybooker1 Posted December 15, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Very far forward and up. Lots of movement, creaking & groaning of metal. Did not bother us excessively & I slept soundly each night.
@homeinok Posted December 15, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 15, 2013 I can speak of this on the magic cause we have stayed in both 12th deck spa rooms and cove balcony. First cruise on this boat we stayed up in the spa. The boat rocked and had a vibration when at sea in the end we actually had fun with it judging big wave on the richter scale.... (we have been in a 6.7 and 6.0 earthquake and hundreds of smaller ones). The spa rooms are of course stern and up high. The cove balcony room we had was mid ship and had no movement that we could notice.
Tutankhamen Posted December 15, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) The farther away from the middle of the ship at sea level, the more movement. Think seasaw. Yes, spelled with an a intentionally. Edited December 15, 2013 by Tutankhamen

I have been in a spa room on the Magic but have not slept in it. I did, however, sleep 1 deck below the spa rooms 2 doors down from the 4js. I have had rooms all over the ships. vwrestler171 Posted December 15, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 15, 2013 I always get a room in the aft of the ship and I felt a lot more motion in the front, the back was a gentle rocking, which helped me sleep, but the fron could feel the ship hit every wave. manmtnmike Posted December 15, 2013 #19 Share Posted December 15, 2013 If ship movement is important, here's some thoughts: Be thinking a double fulcrum and the dynamics from the ocean, will dictate felt-movement. The safesest position fo comfort would be low-center. The newer ship the better....Avoid those that don't have stabilizers and the more narrow styles. Also, The Atlantic, from our north eastern coast gets choppy after August. Mike
RWolver672 Posted December 16, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 16, 2013 We have been on six Carnival ships staying on the Riviera, Empress and most of the time on the Panorama Deck. We never noticed any more movement on one over the other. The only ship we noticed any movement on was the Dream and it was more of a rocking side to side movement. When I see postings that ask about ships movement my first thought is always that you more than likely won't be in your cabin most of the time anyway. We spend most of our time either at shows in the front of the ship or the casino or the Lido deck.
