We did the TA in November on the Equniox

On deck 5 by the shop there was a mildew smell I wonder if it was from all the cheap crap they put out to sell during the two week trip

They must keep the the stuff in the hole for months

It did smell bad , at least to me

Has anyone notice this on other ships

Lol. that is exactly the way the Eclipse smelled today Nov 30th's 14 day cruise, in 2013.

I mentioned this big time in my deleted thread.

The smell, was not just from the shops but also from the Casino, more like Cigar, Cigg smoke. I was so bad... Iam suprized that no one else opened thei mouths to complain.

We just enjoyed the Equinox transatlantic and there was a 'smoky' smell as you walked along the shopping area by the casino on the 4th floor. When we mentioned this at a group get together, others said the same thing and did mention it to the crew. It almost smelled like they were allowing smoking in the casino (near the bar), but we never saw any evidence of this.

Always a few in the crowd that get lost..... need some direction to where to go, the toilets, I think you enjoy that smell better, at lest it be too much chlorine or to must gas, do not lite a match, be warned :D your sense of humor was started. If you want to end it be the first to go my fellow cruise critic...

no pun intended! at all

The smell of smoke, I find that when walked outside the vent system smells of it. the exhaust system, may have been changed over and over, the filters, that the system they have is not enough to do its job, if asked. They should not allow Smoking at all in a carpeted area, and that is what we felt and looked closely I nthe Casino to see if any one had lit up. Maybe they are there later then expected, while we were early..

Off topic at Deck 14 right out the door 20 people smoking, a simple report to the supervisor, was enough for me, it's feedback. All smoking is located mostly Port side. and the casino is Port side. All smoking is at the aft except for the theaters port side.

rather guessing where smoking is permitted

For the better or worse, maybe our own personal mask of spray, and that is located around the ship more in the Aqua spa locations....

I do my best to supply the info then pun some one

You are right it was deck 4 with the worst smells I got my deck screwed up, that what happens when you have the drink package :p

But the smell was also on 5

I believe the ship under a positive pressure so the smoke would not come inside the ship, the louvers on the deck 5 port side are exhaust louvers, that is why the have smoking on that side

Deck five has the channel perfume and all. if I was in there , I would not smell the meldew.. Now this may interesting

That Meldew smell can be smelled from the sinks in the cabin. As times running the water, what I remembered when I had to step back from the sink a few times...

For the smoking comment  like the commercial truth hurts

Were we on the same ship? We just came off the Equinox after doing the Trans Atlantic and we did not notice a smell on either the 4th or 5th levels near the shops or in the casino. Just sayin:D

Both my wife and I and a number of other passengers noticed it

It was much worst on 4, by the shops

It was not a smokey smell

We just came off the Equinox from a 14 day Trans Atlantic cruise. I wish Celebrity would ban cigars! We were on 14 and a fellow was smoking this nasty cigar. If I were his wife I would divorce him. I can still smell that nasty thing. Just saying

I was on same cruise and mentioned the 'smoky' smell to the customer relations desk. They agreed it was from the smoking deck and would send someone to close a vent. It did seem a bit better afterward. The smell was indeed between the casino and shops, neither of which permit smoking, so it apparently did come from elsewhere.
