Princess took my Cabin away after I made final payment.

Nope , was not moved two cabins over within same category.

Moved to an aft-facing non minisuite cabin on the Caribe deck, the one with the extremely deep balcony, a corner unit.

Originally the OP was moved 2 cabins over within the same category. That was when she discovered she had been moved from the cabin she had booked and paid for, E731. She then posted her predicament here

.

Now after a lot of discussion with Princess she has been asked to be moved to a non minisuite cabin on the Carbie Deck, which is saving her money but she hasn't the cabin she made her final payment on.

I too think she should receive at least $100 OBC instead of the measly $25 OBC that Princess is offering. The upset when finding out that you no longer had the cabin you thought you had finally booked is worth that amount alone.

I must have premature Alzheimer's kicking in. I do now recall reading that, but I think she is getting $50 and not $25. At any rate, that is not right that princess gave away her cabin after she had paid in full before the other person

How are you and Wayne? We sailed together on the Tahitian Princess in 2005. Hope you are doing well.:)

Everyone is coming out ot the woodwork....

So there were 2 couples we were close to on that cruise our table mates and

Judy? and Paul....knowing that our table mates would probably not cruise again my guess is the other couple....who we had so much fun with...meeting at the airport, hot tub discussions, late night buffet....am I right?

I am glad you have decided to still do the cruise. I too would be holding out though for a much larger OBC as it was Princess who messed you around. You were just the unfortunate cruiser whose cabin was snatched away from her!

At least you are at the rear of the ship. Go and enjoy the cruise and if nothing else what has happened to you has taught me a valuable lesson which is to check my CP often and not leave anything to chance.

Jeannie, I like your thinking....;)

My friends Gail and Rich from Texas made friends with a couple from Austraila a few years ago it wouldn't be you by any chance would it?

Yes, and we spent a very long night chatting in the casino on Sapphire........'til they booted us out.

SO, IF you ever get on a ship with me again..........you may come visit my balcony ;):D........because that's the one I'll likely have.

Also......I seem to recall a Vision of the Seas bag that I would gladly pay you for.......:)

Still, I'm sorry you got a cruddy deal. I'd be very unhappy......

I had forgotten about that rainy holiday cruise....that was when I had all the TUXED men with me.....and my family followed the Princess cruise with our last on the Mariner...:( Yes, I remember we were both with men...on that cruise:D

Vision bag?, I had forgotten about that I m sure I still have one some- where....that has your name one it.....

Maybe next time you have cabin E731, I can use the Vision bag as a bargaining tool.....

to the last several posters thanks for making me smile......

Everyone has good insight and ideas....

What I find interesting is

Not one person has responded to my original question.....

Has this happen to any of you?

It appears no one that has viewed the title post has had a desired cabin taken from them after final payment.

So my situation, is out of the norm and should be treated by princess as such in MHO...

I think they keyword is "moved". Many people have been "upgraded" after final payment and some were happy and some not. I think your situation is unusual as they did not "upgrade" you. I'm starting to sound like a nag, but I agree, Princess should be doing more.

Unfortunately, no. We do have friends in Texas but they are not Gail and Rich but Joe and Julie and we also have friends who are Sue and Rick but are not from Texas.

We have met and made so many lovely U.S. and Canadian friends over the years from cruising. We were on the Tahitian Princess in 2004 when we did the cruise around Tahiti and then in 2007 when we cruised from Tahiti to Honolulu. We also did an Alaskan cruise on her in 2008 and since she has been changed to the Ocean Princess, we have done another two cruises on her and will be cruising on her in 10 weeks time. We love the smaller ships.

The closest I ever came to losing my cabin (E 731) after final payment was the downsell call from Princess 2 days before the cruise.

But, no, I have never had my cabin taken away from me.

Oh, and note that my avatar is Mariner! Love that ship!

YUP, it's us. Only now we are in our early 60's. I retired late 2013 and Paul will retire in about a year. We are still cruising...have not been back to Tahiti, though. We sure did enjoy our time with you and Wayne and have fond memories of that cruise.

Yes, we did have such a wonderful time in Tahiti. So you're retired from nursing, correct? Congrats.....!

I just came across that head garland a few months ago when we traveled to Hawaii.

Haven't gone back to Tahiti either and returned to ocean cruising a few months after a 2 year break...Had/have sons in NYC, London and Grenada so that's where our travel time was spent. I really got to know NYC and London well by having long and frequent visits, In Grenada we spend only 10 days.

Are u still in Michigan?

I have a crystal block of Mariner are they still giving those out?

Do you have one? Maybe I can use that as a bargaining tool too;)

Going on a shorty the 24th? Actually, these short cruises are what brought me back to ocean cruising...I booked one on thanksgiving week when I heard about them in August.

Martha, I wish Princess felt like you. However, they have to draw the line somewhere. Just think of all the guests they need to satisfy on a daily basis...my situation is small peanuts.

Since I choose to downgrade, I wish they would have been a little more generous as obc costs them only pennies on the dollar. I really didn't push the issue once they came back with $50.

I am planning to write a follow up ltr and include some of the suggestions from this thread....

My main concern as I have stated before is not being informed about the cabin change and something I have not mentioned on this thread, being told by a CR representative I had to make up my mind by "6pm the next day" if I wanted to cancel.

In your letter, there is no need to mention that you made final payment before someone else. They should not be doing this if neither of you had made final payment or if both of you had made final payment. OK to mention that it did happen the day you did make final payment. The fact your booking was marked "do not upgrade" has no bearing on this since you were not given an unwanted upgrade.

Just politely make your main points.

o You were moved away from your desired and selected cabin to another in the same category.

o That you were given no notice this had occurred at the time or anytime later.

o Your disappointment that you could not get your booked cabin assignment back.

o Lack of empathy from the Princess reps you spoke with

Ah, a Mariner crystal block.............sigh.........that might just work! :D

I did a B2B on Golden in November; I hadn't been to Catalina in several years so that was the main draw . But, you can't just do a 4 day, right? Especially when your friends are doing B2Bs......

I wasn't planning on doing this cruise. In fact, I was trying to get a co-worker to book it. I was even going to give him the coveted E 731.

When he hemmed and hawed about it, I gave up. Then Jeanie suggested looking at the 01/24 cruise, and the cabin was still available :D:D............and the rest is history. Or will be shortly. :);)
