lallarebecca Posted December 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Hello! We´ll have a few days pre-/post-cruise in Papeete, and I would need your recommendations on hotels. We are going in November 2014, and we do not have a specific budget, but we would of course like as good value for money as possible without paying too much. When I checked today it also looked like some of the hotels are already fully booked, could that be correct or is it that I am too early and they have not yet released all their rooms? All recommendations are welcome! Thanks in advance, Rebecca
Emdee Posted December 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2013 I am a fan of the IC in Papeete- lovely view of Moorea and great infinity pool. If you have a 'few' days then I would consider taking the ferry to Moorea and staying at the Sofitel ( best Beach) or Hilton ( best snorkelling). Tikiintahiti Posted December 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Best resort on Tahiti or should I say, the Grand Dame is the IC Tahiti. Nice property to gang while your getting ready for your cruise. Best bang for the buck would be Fare Suisse but it isn't a resort but a great deal which includes the transfers airport/hotel/docks. lallarebecca Posted January 1, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Hey! I got many helpful ideas from you guys around here, so I thought I should ask one more question. We´re going on a cruise from/to Papeete on Nov 18 - Nov 28 2014. We´ll be flying in one day precruise and will probably arrive at Tahiti in the early morning of th 17th, so we´ll need a hotel-stay for one night. Since we´ll probably be tired after the nightflight and since it is our first time I was considering staying in Papeete, or at least on Tahiti. When we are coming back from the cruise however, we need to stay at least one night more, since there are no flights back to LAX that will fit into the schedule on the 28th. I was thinking of maybe taking the ferry upon disembark from the cruise and spend the day, and one night at Moorea instead of one more night in Papeete. Would that be a good choice? If we´ll do that we´ll have the day of the 28th and the full day of 29th to spend on Moorea before our flight. Or would it still be better to stay on Tahiti instead of the trouble it might take to get to Moorea? If not, all advice on Moorea hotels are very welcomed. I love snorkelling, so something with a nice beach and manybe even snorelling would be perfect! Best regards, Rebecca
Tikiintahiti Posted January 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) Have you thought about exiting the ship on Moorea, which is normally the last stop on a 10 night cruise. It is allowed ;) That would give you 3 days on Moorea Best resort with snorkeling on Moorea is the Hilton. Best priced place with snorkeling is Les Tipaniers Edited January 1, 2014 by Tikiintahiti
lallarebecca Posted January 1, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Thank you Tikiintahiti! Is the Hilton a lot better than the Sofitel? :)
Tikiintahiti Posted January 1, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Both are similar as far as the actual rooms, poll area, restaurant, however, the Hilton as better snorkeling. If you do go to the Sofitel the best snorkeling is far out, about even with the end of the farthest OWB to the north side.

AZDee Posted January 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 4, 2014 We have taken the tours in Tahiti before and only want to chill on a beach for our last day before the long cruise home. I would love to spend the day at the IC if they offer a day pass or allow for use of their property with lunch or spa services. Or any other of the beach hotels...Thanks for any input you could give. paradiselivin1 Posted February 9, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 9, 2014 Check out Trip Advisor for info on the IC. We are planning a trip for later this year and am debating about this hotel versus one in town. Several people have posted that the IC let them come for the day & actually stored their luggage. Always great to check multiple sites for info. as I am doing for a land-based tour this summer. Enjoy!
