Carnival entertainment

Supposedly the piano bar guy is good. Maybe we will be one of the few that like playlist but will keep an open mind and see how we like it.

Generally we like the comedy club and that usually keeps us entertainment for 4 nights of the cruise.

Did the Liberty in October and had a great time.

How was the Liberty with regards to the Lounge Music? What we experienced was in general there really was no place to go to have a pre-dinner drink and listen to music. We used to enjoy the "old" Cigar Bar for this especially since it was close to the MDR!

They had a few good Entertainers onboard but the times and places of where they played was out of whack! They had a Guitar Player on Lido at 7:00 p.m. but who wants to sit up on Lido and drink wine out of a plastic cup!

The Piano player was pretty good but it was never busy in there (actually quiet). We went a couple of times.

Comedy was good and the girl, Lu, who ran it was a real sweetie!

The one thing which was very good was when Matt (CD) and ACD, Dr. E, did Music Trivia. It was a show which got everyone going and not really Trivia. They did that by the Casino Bar.

The Shows drastically need improvement between the Playlist Production, Hasbro, Marriage Show, etc. They had a band, B Squad, that played by the Casino Bar a couple of nights and one night they did a show in the Lounge on the 80's. She wasn't that good a singer. She got away with it playing by the Casino Bar but putting on a Show on Stage it was really noticed. We ended up leaving before it ended.

Please report back and let us know how you like the new menus! We have two Carnival cruises booked for 2014 and have some booked with other lines. We're holding off booking any more (period) until we see how everything shakes out between the Menus and the Entertainment!

I follow every link I find to drydock schedules and so far, she is not listed (had one in 2011?). So I hope that means Liberty will still have them. It's something we really enjoy and Playlist is something we avoid (after sailing two ships with them this year).

I didn't realize the Liberty didn't have Playlist. I was happy to hear she was coming to PC but after the Glory we both felt we are done booking on Conquest Class Ships unless there's improvement. I'll now wait and see how the new Menus shake out then take it from there!

Liberty had a good Phillipino band but for a dumb dumb reason parked them on the promenade by the casino so impossible to either listen to music or dance with people constantly going back and forth. Most nights the lounge in back was empty so no reason at all for this.

Thanks! This sounds similar to the Glory!

We are going back on the Miracle this Sunday. Last two cruises in Aug and Nov fly on entertainer Ned Rifkin did a show in the big show room with the band and dancers that was spectacular. We have seen him maybe 8-10 times and always come away impressed. The band had maybe 10 pieces and was very good.

By far the best and greatest entertainment that we see on board and in the ports are the passengers themselves.

Watching them around the ship, and running/staggering to the ship while in the port, pier running, eating in the buffet and MDR, and etc.

Carnival should let some of them sail for free or at least a great discount.

Hopefully on the Glory they put the band in a back lounge so you can hear them.

As of a few weeks ago, the band was very good, but they only played right outside the casino. :(

The best entertainment we have seen so far on any of the Carnival ships that we have sailed on is the Blackjack Band on the Dream. Carnivals entertainment is very poor compared to other cruise lines that we have sailed on...

That is such a terrible place for them to play. They have empty venues and why they put them there dont understand at all.

We had the same experience on Paradise in November. There was little seating and a lot of smoke. They need to put them in a lounge!

...and it's not like Carnival ships are hurting for available lounge space these days with all the entertainment cutbacks. Truly a curious place for them to play.

We are just back from the Dream and we were disappointed in the entertainment.

Wrote to JH thanking him for sending us a little something, stating food was excellent and so was service but complaining about entertainment.

Namely

Same old welcome aboard show since before time began

Legends show singing same songs from same "Legends"

Love and Marriage Show done as one evening entertainment

Also that we would be going on the Glory in a little over a month and have heard pretty consistant negative comments about playlist production shows

He commented that while many seem to like playlist productions many do not and he would like Carnival to offer professional entertainment every night.

Indicated this is being reviewed at the highest level and changes are a coming.

Hopefully Carnival realizes that their Entertainment is really substandard in the industry now and will quickly take steps to improve it.

We are going on Liberty in a couple of weeks. I understand the Playlist Production Shows are not on Liberty. However, I was disappointed with the entertainment last January on Freedom. Too much audience participation. The "legends" show should at least have some different "singers" to impersonate.

And since we now do B2Bs, we get to see them twice!

I hope John is right and changes are made before we cruise in 2015.

Hard enough with poor entertainment to be on a ship for one week, dont think we would want to do a b2b on same ship.

I seem to remember they use the same legends to save on costume costs. dont understand at all why they cant at least change up the songs.

Not as if the legends only have one song to their credit.

Think the CD Josh W is one of the better ones.

Makes no sense to me. Get people in a lounge to hear music and dance and would think you would sell them a bunch of booze.
