I'll be in St. Maarten from 8:00 to 6:00. What is something that is a must see or do????

Go to the airport and watch the airplanes fly in or fly out. Just tell your cab drive to take you to the airport at Sunset Grill. You can thank me later. Check out the Youtube videos of the St Maarten Airport. WHAT A BLAST!!!!

Their beaches are fantastic. Went to Orient Beach the first time there, DH loved it, while I found it extremely crowded -- though I have read comments from others who stated it wasn't.

2nd time there we did the Golden Eagle Catamaran trip.... snorkeling was boring, as the seas were rough and really didnt see anything, but the beach we went to was out of this world .... and no one there but us.

There is a tour, either through the cruise line, or independently, called "two countries, one island" or something like that. It takes you through both the dutch and French side of the island. I have done this once and loved it.

Second time I went to St Martin, I just walked the main street near where the ship docked (dutch side), and shopped and visited a couple of casinos.

Next time "God willing", I should get to St Martin, I would like to get over to the French side again, and go to Serafina's for some really good French pastries.

Also I would love to get to Maho beach and watch the planes, both big and small come in for landings, or take off.

St Martin remains high on my list of cruise ports of call.

Wish you a very nice cruise and hope you enjoy St Martin/Maarten.:)

Have a guavaberry colada and then buy a bottle of guavaberry rum to take home so you can make them at home later:D I need to go back to St. Martin ASAP my guavaberry rum is empty:mad:.

We went to Maho Beach to see the planes, pretty neat.

It depends on what you like to do and what you want to do that day. You should go to the St. Maarten page.

We just got back from there. We went to Orient Bay. It was easy to stay on the "less nude" side. The taxi driver took us to the correct side. But, we were the only large ship in port that day. You need to check how many ships are in port. I think that will greatly impact your enjoyment of certain activities.

Your time in port is long enough that you can go to Orient beach then catch a cab to Maho Beach by noon, that's when more planes come in. Stay until 3:00 pm when the Air France plane takes off, it's amazing, you'll never forget it.

You'll still have time to do some shopping before re-boarding the ship. Whatever you decide to do, have a great time, St Maarten is one of our favorite ports!

Sometimes the water taxi can get backed up, you can walk out the port and down the sidewalk to town, there will be other cruise pax with you and it's safe.

Have fun!

The walk from the port to town is about 15 - 20 minutes from the front gate.

That's to the beginning of the Boardwalk and the foot of Frontstreet.

Another 10 minutes or so will get you into the center of the town and shopping.
