FV Cabin question

Recommended Posts

We are booked in one of the corner FV rooms on the Millennium, deck 9.
I was looking at a picture of the Summit, which i assume is similar to Millie. Are the verandahs larger on deck 7,then slightly smaller on 8 then 9?

Also, how is the noise level on 9,being below the buffet restaurant?

We stayed in a FV cabin on the Summit in December, 8181. It was huge. I believe the size of the balconies get a bit bigger as you go down from 9 to 7. I don't think it really matters though because they are all really nice balconies. You will thoroughly enjoy your cabin and I don't think noise should be a problem.

awatt --

We can't help you yet, but we will be able to in October -- we are booked in a sky deck, corner FV for the Constellation Transatlantic in September. I've heard mixed things about sound from the buffet above, from scraping and banging of chairs to nice evening music to lull you to sleep. I'm optimistic and counting on the latter.

As for the balconies, I beleive Rae is correct that the balconies get slightly larger as you move down the ship -- but with all that space, it shouldn't be too noticable. From what I've been reading, after the larger suites (Penthouse, Royal, and Celebrity) the FV cabins are most desirable on board the M-class ships.

Happy sailing!

We were just on Summit and will sail again soon with an FV cabin, so checked out and talked to some "neighbors" in FV cabins on this last cruise. The only noise mentioned was on some nights they have music on the outdoor deck of the Waterfall Grill (deck 10 aft), and they said they could hear that. But neither party "complained" about it, and I'm not sure how loud it was with the balcony door shut. Otherwise they were very happy (one on deck 9, one on 7). Both balconies were plenty large, even if deck 7 may have been a little larger. They were not the corner FVs though - the ones next to. Only thing I noticed about corners is the balcony is not open glass like the others are, so your view of water may be affected if that matters.

Here's some photos of both the corner FV & the non-corner FV! Hope they help you!

The largest corner balconies on the Millennium class FV cabins are on deck 7. They are recessed and smaller as you go up. The cabins on deck 9 are more exposed to a view from the teak deck above. Watch for flying cigarette butts, too.

There was pretty good cover over the deck 9 FV and other aft balconies this last cruise on Summit. The awnings went pretty far out over them and we could not see much from the Waterfall Grill deck above. The only balconies that were exposed were the corner FVs.

The FV cabin balconies on deck 7 are longer but skinnier. The balconies get progressively shorter but wider as they go from deck 7 to deck 9

The area designated for cigar smoking is now on deck ten at the aft. I have noticed the smell of cigar smoke on these balconies on our last couple of cruises, however it certainly wouldn't keep me from booking one, in fact that's all we ever book.
