julzcl Posted December 31, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2013 we have cruised many times before, but first time on Holland. We are interested in the veendam leaving from Quebec on June 7th. The itinerary says that the ship does not leave until Sunday . Soooo.. The ship does not move for the first 24 hours? Can we arrive on the ship late Saturday, since it will not leave until Sunday? Help.
sail7seas Posted December 31, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2013 You would need to confirm with HAL for late arrival but they likely will give you permission to board next day as long as you are aboard in time for life boat drill. I would suggest getting the permission by e-mail so you have it in writing if you have any confusion when arriving at the terminal.
sppunk Posted December 31, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Get an OK, but yes you can board anytime until a few hours until to sailing. HAL staffs QC all night for arrivals, but you go straight to the ship instead on register in the terminal.
sherilyn70 Posted December 31, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2013 My understanding is you have to have a terminal open to process you for embarkation. Not sure how late they stay open so you'll have to confirm that with HAL. It's not an issue for us since we arrive in Quebec on Saturday June 7th at 9:30am. We just intend to go back out and enjoy a nice afternoon/evening in town before heading back to the ship. I was considering an excursion for Sunday. sail7seas Posted December 31, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Front office can check in a late arriving guest. The reason to have in writing you have permission to board late is in order to be permitted into the terminal and onto the ship. You don't have an ID to scan until you have been taken to the front office to check in. It is possible they might have a check in position in the terminal but probably not. That's good information in case something were to happen to one of our flights and delay us. :)
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 31, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 31, 2013 OP Is there is a reason why you want to check in late Saturday? Are you flying in? Aren't there earlier flights? JMO -- but I would want to get checked in as early as possible and then be able to go out and walk around Quebec City.
