Pier Pressure 53 Posted January 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Will be going on our 1st cruise ever later this year. On Princess Cruises they have "anytime dining." This may be a dumb question, but I would assume even though it is "anytime" dining, one would still need to make reservations??? If so, where onboard do you make the reservations, and when can you start making them? Again, I apologize if this question comes across as being a dumb one. jean s Posted January 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2014 You do not have to make reservations with anytime dining. On some Princess you can make reservations but I never bother. We just show up as if we were going to a restaurant on land.
EdmPair Posted January 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2014 No reservation needed but depending on time, there may be a line. How long you wait depends on the number in the group, the time of evening, and whether you are willing to table share. Waits for 'tables for 2' are a bit longer. I like meeting new peeps so the big tables work for my style. I see the water lots of other times so need not see waves pass my table but if it works, I enjoy it. Have fun, M
OCruisers Posted January 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2014 You do not need to make reservations for Anytime Dining on Princess. Just show up. We are Easy and say we'll share with any others with any waiter. Have never had to wait long enough (more than 5 minutes) to have been given a beeper. We normally go about 7:30 or 8:00. Nebr.cruiser Posted January 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) You can make reservations, but you don't have to. We rarely do, just once in a while if we know we need a certain time. It may be difficult to get reservations during prime times; not sure, as we don't want to eat then. We rarely if ever have a wait, and usually ask for a table for two. Sometimes we can just walk right in, sometimes have a wait of 1-5 minutes. We do not try to eat at the busiest times though, for instance when the dining room opens, we prefer 8 or later. Formal night may be a little busier. Edited January 12, 2014 by Nebr.cruiser
dorisis Posted January 12, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Then 2 small princess ships don't offer ATD and some of the ships have a choice of several themed restaurants to choose from. No reservations and no extra charge.
paul929207 Posted January 12, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2014 We rarely make reservations. Only when we have a large group for dinner one evening.
trish1c Posted January 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2014 No reservations needed but at peak times 7pm you may have to wait. You get a pager. We'd put our names in & then go sit in a nearby bar. We rarely finished one drink before our table was ready.
