christmas Posted January 13, 2014 #26 Share Posted January 13, 2014 So, are you saying that non platinum and non FTTF can get in the VIP line and not be asked to see their card? I find that hard to believe. Wouldn't everybody just get in that line and bypass the general line? It is true they never ask to see your card (although they should). It makes me upset to think that people use that line that aren't FTTF or Platinum or Diamond.
cruizinisthebest Posted January 13, 2014 #27 Share Posted January 13, 2014 I had to go to guest services this past Summer a couple of times and had FTTF. Each time they most definitely asked for my s&s card. This was on the Sensation. Maybe other ships are different.
tonit964 Posted January 13, 2014 #28 Share Posted January 13, 2014 My DH and I are platinum. If Carnival offers FTTF and people can purchase it, why would anyone be upset about that? Don't be ashamed or worried you are doing anything wrong, wear it proudly!:D It really is not a big deal, at least to us anyway. Our last cruise, my two adult kids and my dad are not platinum and got through check in before we did, they had to wait for us. They were boarding everyone at about 12:30. We wanted the embarkation photo of all of us together. I like to get on the ship early because we all paid for Day 1, so I realize everyone else wants to too! Enjoy your cruise. :)

Ocean Dancer Posted January 13, 2014 #30 Share Posted January 13, 2014 My DH and I have been Platinum for many cruises. If we need to go to guest services, we do go to the VIP line and I always have my Platinum card in my hand to avoid any unnecessary comments from anyone, including Carnival. You will have to give your cabin number anyway so you should not be able to cheat, They know. Upon boarding we have had some problems. We knew that we were allowed to go directly to our rooms, but encountered barriors and locked doors. Upon banging on said doors, we were told that the rooms do not open until 1:30. We showed our Platinum card and received a bland look from a crew member, but pushed past anyway, and had to open closed doors with no signs to get to our room to drop off our carryons and use the facilities. The VIP special phone number would ring endlessly, or put us on hold with no professional service at all. Our free laundry has been ruined, I will never let Carnival wash even a t shirt, If you are not on the first tender, so what, many are running, and you are only talking about a few minutes. Do not envy us, save your money, Platinum or FTTF is not as great as you think.
Kato27 Posted January 13, 2014 #31 Share Posted January 13, 2014 We used FTTF on the Freedom last Saturday, we were placed in a separate area, got on after Platinum and suites, it was awesome. I had to go to guest services twice and used the platinum and FTTF line. I was never asked to show my card till I got to the person behind the counter. We had no issues with other platinum or diamond guests. In fact on my second trip, there was a lady in front of us who was platinum and she had to make a phone call, she made me pass in front of her because she new it would take long, she was very nice. I think that the only people who complain about FTTF are a small minority on these boards, on the ship itself people don't care, there cruising and on Vacation. It's a good purchase if u can get it:)
ToAdam12 Posted January 13, 2014 #32 Share Posted January 13, 2014 We are on the Conquest in February ... it is b2b ... we snagged the same aft cabin for both legs ..... and now we have fftf !!!!!!!! So the start to our wonderful cruise will be better now that we can get to our cabin early and drop off our stuff. And I promise .. I really, really promise to not attempt to beat the platinum people to the front of the line .... I will not trample, nor run in front of you ... ever....Okay?? Friends now??? Honestly who cares about platinum and diamond. God forbid they have to wait 5 mins. Look they still get more than you do with FTTF they get gifts. I wouldn't give them a second thought. ToAdam12 Posted January 13, 2014 #34 Share Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) Charming... Admittedly not charming but honest. I find it had to believe that the 50 or so that do FTTF really make that much of a difference in a platinum or diamonds cruise. I think if anyone does take issue with it, they are upset of the idea that they had to work to obtain your level. It's vacation not work. If you are willing to pay then so be it. People also had issues with the fast pass systems at Theam parks. This is just one more thing. Edited January 13, 2014 by ToAdam12

I simply cruise enough on CCL to reach this level. Never understand the comments of "I paid $$$ to reach Platinum." Actually, DW and I paid $$$ to cruise and have vacations, not for some so called loyalty program. So no problem here with FTTF.

But where's my justice FTTF. :D I reached Platinum status on my January 2013 B2B. I was lucky because they gave it to me on my 9th cruise because it was B2B. I think a lot of Platinum/Diamond people are upset because the whole loyalty program had recently changed and Platinum Perks were removed or reduced. I have no complaints because I wasn't used to getting more. With FTTF I do get an additional perk - immediate access to my stateroom and early luggage arrival. Hi Sparky2: We haven't cruised too many times. What perks were removed or reduced? I heard about BOGO (something to do with the casino)? Anything else? 5Hawkeyes Posted January 13, 2014 #46 Share Posted January 13, 2014 This is literally about the most civil FTTF thread I've ever read. Kind of nice to read all the experiences without all the hate. Thanks!!!
EZ4 Posted January 13, 2014 #47 Share Posted January 13, 2014 You paid your money for a perk that's available for purchase. Ignore the stink eyes, bust that door down and march right on the ship like you're supposed to. You paid for it.
shellster1 Posted January 13, 2014 #48 Share Posted January 13, 2014 MY DH and I are Platinum and our friends we new to sailing, we got onto the ship exactly the same time, At most ports they do a really good job of organizing and getting people boarded very quickly! We did get right into our room and our luggage was there soon after ( I do like not waiting for our luggage). But then again Our friends luggage arrived nearly as quickly as ours did!! We utilize other perks of Platinum that are not part of FTTF , free laundry, free gifts and free appetizer and dessert plate delivered to the room . We very rarely have to go to the pursers desk anyway so going the the Platinum line for that doesn't really matter either, although I have seen very long lines in the regular lines sometimes. Again, I really don't see a darn bit of difference and even our friends that don't purchase FTTF get on and get their luggage nearly the same time we do. I'm not sure why anyone would want to pay for it other then putting your things down in your room a little bit earlier. But hey if someone wants to pay $50 per stateroom for it then so be it, I am more then happy to share the line with them that I acquired for free. At the end of the day, we are ALL on a CRUISE VACATION....don't sweat the small stuff LOL I have gone on cruises with my mom, who is mobile but is on 24 hour oxygen. This disability allows her the privilege of boarding airplanes first, (ahead of priority and first class passengers) and it also gives her the much appreciated expedited boarding privilege on Carnival and most other cruise lines, again, ahead of VIP's. We are quite often given dirty looks, which my mom is very sensitive to, and obviously that hurts me. In an effort to be fair to others, we always arrive at the port around 11:30, to avoid the lines anyway. I've noticed fellow passengers in the (rather short) lines are on the ship not much later. Point is, in my opinion, get to the port early if you can. (Although I would purchase the $50 priority thing if it were just me.) Problem is, I never book a cruise early and they sell out fast, I'm told. I'm going this March out of Miami without mom...just with my 6 year old. We will arrive early and stand in line. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to board! In previous times without her, I've never waited long. (Not even in Puerto Rico.)
