Alaska - Carinval or Royal Carib.

Planning an Alaskan cruise on either Carnival or Royal Carib. in July. We have been on other cruises on both of these carriers in the past and were generally happy.

However, the cost difference between Carnival and RC for a similar Alaskan itinerary is substantial, Carnival being the lesser expensive option.

Looking for some feedback - is RC that much better than Carnival on Alaskan cruises??

We are travelling with 2 young kids under 11.

Thank you.

Pick a cruise line that visits Glacier Bay.

Carnival has a few dates.

Princess has lots of dates.

NCL has a few dates.

RCI has no dates.

HAL has lots of dates.

Park rangers board the ship, give lectures and have some nice handouts and souvenirs that the kids will enjoy.

And adults marvel at the spectacular scenery.

We sailed RCCL in Alaska about 7 years ago... on the Radiance.. had a great time.. we are going back this year, on Carnivals Miracle.. I guess its important what you are looking for.. most of the ships itinerarys are similar... all the standard ports..are you doing a one way or round trip ? we did one way on radiance and are now doing round trip.. we always get a balcony and spend alot of time on it.. we have the aft wrap this year on miracle, and may never go inside.. IMHO, save the money and spend it on the very expensive excursions, and go with Carnival... , as I said, IMHO... :)

We are doing the same thing this year , sailing Carnival on June 24th. all the ships itineraries are basically the same , including Juneau , Skagway , & Kethikan , along with either Glacier Bay or Tracy Arm.

Seven years ago we did the whole Cruisetour experience with Princess and had a wonderful time.

We chose Carnival this time because we like Carnival and have always had a good time with them , and , the money we save with them enabled us to upgrade to a suite and book a couple of the more expensive excursions.

Either way , imo , if your in Alaska and the weather cooperates , you really cant go wrong. Definitely a destination that is much more about the scenery and excursions then it is about the ship !!!!
