sluggerdog Posted January 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Hi, Can anyone confirm if they have the chefs table on the pacific dawn or not? I seem to find mixed results via Google. Thabkyou Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

Skyrules Posted January 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Hi, Can anyone confirm if they have the chefs table on the pacific dawn or not? I seem to find mixed results via Google. Thabkyou Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk Yes they do, we did it on the PNG Cruise. They did it 3 times (I think) on our 10 night cruise, plus one for a group of journalists that was on board. It was $95 per person and for that you get 7 courses, each course paired with an appropriate wine, a photo of the group (11 people on the night we did it, but a max of 12 per night. You also get an escorted tour of the Galley during dinner preparation, hosted by the Head Chef. It's worth the money, and if you get a chance I thoroughly recommend you go. It was the best food we've had on any of the cruises we've done, on 4 different cruise lines.
Skyrules Posted January 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Thanks Barry, I wonder if it is only for the longer trips.... We are doing a 7 night island hopper from Brisbane in March. They would possibly do it once on a 7 night cruise. I think it depends on the Chef on board at the time. Michael Owens, who was on Dawn when we went to PNG admitted he loved showing off, so he'd probably do it as often as he could.

I've emailed off directly to P&O to see if they plan to do it for our specific cruise.
Shiprobbo Posted January 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2014 OK great thanks for that. I've emailed off directly to P&O to see if they plan to do it for our specific cruise. Not sure that P&O office will be able to help all that much, as noted before it is actually up to the Chef in question. Really comes down to demand on a specific cruise, if there are only two people wanting it then it won't happen, on the other hand if there sufficient numbers it will. I did a 7-night on Pacific Dawn last April and it was certainly on one night, similarly it was on on the 4-nights coming across form New Zealand on Pacific Pearl in June. I had a party of 11 on Pacific Jewel in September for the 4-night Moreton Island cruise. We requested the Chef's Table, however while they did it for us (there were special reasons why that happened), they did advise that it normally does not happen on the Moreton Bay or cruises to nowhere. Hope that helps,

sluggerdog Posted January 17, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted January 17, 2014 I've just received my reply from P&O and they confirmed it is planned for our cruise provided they get the number registered at the start of the trip. They said they need a minimum of 8 to do it which we have 4 already keen so hopefully it will go ahead. Thanks for the replies and information. ozbrian Posted February 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2014 Yes -- at least they did in November 2013, 11 nights to PNG Barry Hi Barry, We are doing the PNG cruise in September. Can you let me know if there was any snorkelling or scuba available in these ports? I loved the blog and youtube slideshows. Any other tips would be much appreciated. bazzaw Posted February 6, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 6, 2014 I am not aware of anything in way of snorkelling in the PNG ports that we went to. There is apparently good diving and snorkelling in PNG but tying it into a cruise might be a problem Bary Sent from my T-17B using Forums mobile app
