I read that there is a beach within a 10 min walk of where the cruise ship docks in Kauai and also close to Anchor Cove shopping mall. Has anyone done this? How did you like it? Can you rent chairs and umbrella there? Are there food vendors?

We have visited Kauai 2x in the past and seen the island, so just looking for a beach day this time. Thanks

Just as a word of warning, if you walk to Kanapaki beach, Nawiliwili park is on the way. During the day, this is an okay park (tends to be a crew hangout), but at night this is a very dangerous area.

As mentioned above there is a very nice beach in front of the Marriott Resort. A shuttle leaves the pier every 30 min. taking you to the beach and Harbor Cove shops.

The shuttle doesn't actually take you to the beach. It is the Anchor Cover shops shuttle, and runs back and forth from the pier to the shops.

Kalapaki beach is across the bridge behind the shops, an easy walk. It's a lovely beach, whith shops and restaurants behind it. There's a shower to wash off the sand when you head back...right in front of the Maui rentals place.

And unfortunately, if you keep your rental car overnight there, you have to park it at the Anchor Cove shops parking lot, and walk through the dark past the park to get to the dock. Not the best of situations.
