Port Canaveral dinner with our boys

We are going to fly in to Orlando around noon the day before our cruise leaves. We could stay in Orlando for the afternoon, or head down to Port Canaveral and have dinner and play at the hotel pool.

What are the thoughts on a good Port Canaveral area restaurant with the kids? I don't think it has to be anything fancy, but a place they'll think is fun and not something we'd have locally. My guess is they'll sleep in the car and be ready to have some fun that afternoon/evening.

If you are coming to PC on Friday or Saturday I would go to either Grills, or Fishlips which is right on the water where all the cruiseships leave.

Also another suggestion if you want the kids to be able to "blow off some steam", go to Jetty Park which is also right on the waterway where the ships go out. It has a playground that was a big help to my granddaughter after our long car ride. You can see the ships so close you will think you can reach out and touch them. (then you could go to dinner after you leave Jetty Park)

The three closest hotels to the park are Radisson at the Port, Residence Inn and the Country Inn & Suites. All will have the park/cruise package if you want to leave your car there for the trip. I know the CI&S also has a free breakfast (Radisson does not-but McDonald's across the street) and I have not stayed at the Residence Inn but it does get great reviews.

Hope this helps!!

There was an Italian family restaurant (pizza, ravioli, etc) very reasonable within walking distance of the Country Inn & Suites and the Residence Inn (they are next door to each other) Perhaps someone on this board can remember the name?

We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites and ate at this restaurant. I can recommend both. It's nice in the morning to grab breakfast and only have a 10 min ride to the port. Enjoy!

you're thinking of Kelsey's http://kelseyscanaveral.com/

any of the 'port trilogy' as I call it will work for you

Fishlips

http://fishlipswaterfront.com/

Rusty's Seafood and Oyster Bar

Grills Seafood

I prefer Grills (less fried and more grilled choices) but if you ask three locals which is better odds are you'll get one selecting each of the three ... they are similar ... all are family friendly but run happy hour which can be lively on Fri and Sat. The ships sail by CLOSE ... cruise ships have been starting the exit around 4:30 of late ... show is typically over by 5 or a little after.
