CruisinRoxy Posted January 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2014 I have been looking for half day sails in St. Thomas. It seems a lot of them depart from the Red Hook area. That is about a half hour ride, I think. Can anyone recommend a half day sail out of Charlotte Amalie, so that we can just hop off the ship and onto a sail boat, rather than have to travel to another part of the island? Thanks! O2B@Cagain Posted January 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2014 There are several boats that leave from Crown Bay on 1/2 day sails. Doubloon and Bones are two of the "pirate ships" that pick you up right there.
gamblingrandma Posted January 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2014 Captain Mike aboard The Fury offers an 1/2 day sail...but it's a "sailing yacht" not a catamaran. Holds about 24 passengers. We are booked in February for the 1/2 sail at $75 each. This was printed on our confirmation "If your ship is docked at Havensite (WICO) Cruise Ship Dock, make an immediate left off the gangplank, walk down to the end of the dock. Make another left into Yacht Haven Grande Marina and walk staight 100 yards to the entrance to the FAT TURTLE RESTAURANT." His email address is: captainmike@usvisailing.com and here is a link: http://www.usvisailing.com
CruisinRoxy Posted January 24, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Yes, Thanks! I just booked this! He gets great reviews on Trip Advisor, too. Looking forward to it! But we are going on the Allure, and apparently where she docks, is Royal Crown is the other side of the harbor, about 3 miles. So you have to take a cab. But it's still better than going all the way to Red Hook, which can take 30 to 40 minutes from what I hear.
