How interesting, they still call it leprosy. It is difficult to get this disease, usually from living with others who have it.

I doubt that many people would know what you were talking about if you referred to Hansen's Disease. Leprosy is still the commonly used name, with Hansen's Disease only coming into use in the 20th century following the identification of the bacterium causing Leprosy by Dr. Hansen in the late 19th Century.

This story is much larger over on the St. Maarten board under "Caribbean" in the ports of call section.

There is a person writing sections about their story having contracted the "Mosquito virus" from Orient Beach on December 18, 2013. He was off the Oasis of the Seas. His cruise critic name is wshaw859 and he has quite a story to tell. The mosquito bit him when he was sitting in a shaded area. His next segment should be telling about his illness experience after getting back on the ship. He hasn't written that part yet.

Though you all might find this interesting and helpful.

There are many of who are seriously concerned about this. :( I have read that it is now on the Dutch side and not being published as tourism is their main income.

I did buy bug spray as a precaution but will keep watching this news to determine our plans regarding this. On other travel forums, I have read of many people canceling their vacations to St. Maartin and all the islands where it is showing up.
