Great Times on Indy! ~ A Big Review With Lots of Pics!

Recommended Posts

Your pictures were great and those waterfalls were the best. I just have one question for you, were people allowed to bring their motorcycles on the ship?

Thanks!

Yes, they were part of a special group that paid to bring their bikes along. I talked to a couple that was in the group in the cigar lounge a couple of nights. They did escorted rides in three ports (all except Labadee).

Another Strongbow drinker! I was happy the day that they had them on special! I was able to get Strongbow at the Dog and Badger, I just had to ask for it and they got it from another bar - kind of weird since it was an English pub.

I also thought that it was odd that they didn't announce that the Quest was adults only - not nearly as fun when there are kids present.

For those of you wondering, the submarine was from the Netherlands - we looked up the flag and ensign (we are both military and our curiosity got the best of us).

You mentioned back in post # 216 about the Solarium having a swim up bar. By any chance do you have a picture of it? I've cruised on 20 different ships over the years and I have not yet had the privilege of consuming an alcoholic beverage at a swim up bar afloat. It has occurred of course at numerous all-inclusives and places like Margaritaville at Grand Turk.

Was there a night time deck party at all? All of the cruises we have been on have had a deck party with a buffet and music and dancing....

There was one, although I didn't make it up there. Keep a lookout in the Cruise Compass for something called Club Twenty. Weather permitting, it's a dance party in the Solarium. I don't think they have food though.

Interesting, thanks for looking that up.

SNJCruisers: For some reason, Tapatalk won't let me quote you.

I don't have a close up of the little bar, but it's right under the bridge over the Solarium pool. It's just a divider between the two sides of the pool with a flat stone top. There are submerged stops welded to it so you have a nice place to sit with your drink in the pool. There isn't a bartender, so it's not like something at Sandals, bit it's a neat little place to chill out with friends.

great review many thanks for posting it

gives me agood taste of the ship

would be really nice if someone from thsi side of the pond would post xsomethign very similar form the "british perspective" too just to see the comparison

be very interested to see hwo the ship adapts to suit our tastes more when it is over here

especially regarding the entertainment

that was our one minor niggle "not a real problem"

last year when we doen Celebrity from FL in February

we didn't "get" a lot of the shows purely because they were aimed at the bulk of the passengers who were obviously American and canadian

Superb review thanks for taking the time Darth

.....Taken as a whole it was a great time. The itinerary was nice, with a good mixture of port and sea days. The crew was friendly and attentive and the ship was in excellent shape. I would definitely consider this cruise again, and highly recommend it. .....

As always, another fine presentation Grady. Thank you for taking the time and effort doing something like this requires.

Agreed that this is a really nice 8 day cruise that we'd be very interested in taking, especially if and/or when Anthem takes over the itinerary.

The Squeeze Bar by the H2O Zone, they have juices as well as adult beverages. Plus they have sausage dogs with freshly baked cheese roll buns for lunch on sea days.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed picture review!

I do have a question about this one... Were the sausage dogs and cheese roll buns free? :D

If you're coming down on I-95, you'll get off onto I-595 which takes you directly into port Port Everglades. That will end in a construction area, Park-n-Go is to the left. You'll probably want to plug it into GPS, as that area is pretty congested. I'd visit their website before you go, you can get their address, check for any online specials, and probably join their "frequent parker" program to earn free days.

Whether or not to use them is purely up to you. You save money parking off-site, but it's obviously not as convenient as having your car right at the ship. Some folks like to be able to jump in their car and go. Pros and cons to both.

What kind of tripod/camera mount did you use on your excursions? Clearly those waterfall pics have a shutter speed slower than 1/30

That was just resting it on one of the poles for the handrail. I didn't feel like lugging the tripod along for the hike, so I just had to use what I could find. :D

You've definitely sold us on this itinerary, we're planning on booking it on Anthem too. Sounds great!
