How Do You Know About Suite Perks

Your concierge will tell you everything.

They also will meet you and escort you to the front of the priority line, be waiting at your seating area in the theater, etc.

The theater has the seats in a roped area.

It all works very smoothly!

You'll receive notices in your cabin everyday as well, along with all the food.

The adage, "on as a passenger, off as cargo", may come to mind when you've experienced all the delish dishes they give you. Every afternoon and evening you'll find something special to snack on...compliments of.......NCL... :D

Enjoy your suite,

I have stayed in penthouse suites on the Star and the Gem. They were two completely different experiences. On the Star, I was told that being in a penthouse suite did not entitle me to saved seating in the theater or early admission to the chocolate buffett. On the Gem, I didn' t expect to get either but we did. I felt like we were treated like royality on the Gem. I spoke to other suite passengers about it and was told that it depends on the concierge. I had Patrick on the Star and Kadek on the Gem. I just don't want you to get your hopes up and have them fall short of expectations like I did. I almost did not book another suite because of my disappointing experiences and too high expectations on the Star with both my concierge and my butler. I am glad I tried again because my experience on the Gem was amazing. I just hope my third try is as good! Enjoy your trip, but go in with realistic expectations. Just because people get it on oneship or with one concierge does not mean it is standard. If it is not listed as a suite amenity, it is possible, but not guaranteed.

We will be in a Aft Suite on the Jewel. How do we know where and when to go for priority tendering. I have heard things like we can get into the Choc. fountain early or seating for shows. How does this work?

We have a corner aft suite on the Jewel too!

The list below was compiled by WaldosPepper. While it might not be 100% up to date, it will give you a good idea of what to expect.

Here are a few tips to help you sort out the perks associated with the different types/levels of suites on Norwegian Cruise Line.

• Perks come with all full suite accommodations. Mini-suites do not fall into that category. Any stateroom category that starts with an "S" is considered a full suite.

• Some ships are equipped with a Haven, and some are not. Ships that are equipped with a Haven will have two levels of suite: Haven suites and non-Haven suites. Haven Suites are designated by the letter "S" followed by a number. Non-Haven Suites are designated by the letter "S" followed by a letter.

• Haven suites have access to the Haven regardless of where they are situated on the ship. The Haven has its own pool, hot tub, sauna, and sundeck. Some have their own restaurant and bar within the Haven complex. Some Haven's also have a retractable roof over the central area. Haven configuration varies based on ship class/generation

• All suites have access to a private restaurant for breakfast and lunch.

• All suites have Butler and Concierge service.

• All suites receive invitations to a special cocktail reception with the Captain and other Officers.

• All suites receive priority embarkation and disembarkation, as well as priority tendering.

• All suites receive one bottle of Sparkling Wine, one large bottle of water, a bowl of fresh fruit (replenished upon consumption) and a fresh flower arrangement in their suite, along with treats delivered daily by the Butler. (Note: Garden Villas, Deluxe Owner's Suites and Owner's Suites receive Champagne instead of Sparkling Wine)

• Garden Villa's receive 6 bottles of alcohol with unlimited mixers, soda and water, while Deluxe Owner's Suites and Owner's Suites each receive 3 bottles of alcohol with unlimited mixers, soda and water.

• All suites are provided with a variety of Elemis brand toiletries.

• All suites are equipped with a Coffee/Cappuccino/Espresso Machine (Most are Lavazza pod-style machines), however the Sun has Lavazza machines in the Owner’s Suites, but drip-style coffee brewers in all other suites (these suites cannot accommodate these devices).

• All suites have access to the Pre-Cruise Concierge service, which helps to coordinate your individual selections on pillow types, coffee and tea preferences, and a variety of special requests.

• All suites (except the SG and SJ suites on Deck 12 of the Star and some suites on the Sun) have a portable phone, which can be used throughout the ship.

• All suites are equipped with the "Bliss Bed" which truly lives up to its name.

• All suites have an expanded Room Service menu. Essentially, order whatever you want, and if it is available on the ship you will have it.

I have found sometimes you need to ask again, just like this post we have found different issues depending on the ship, conceirge.

It's true that only Haven suites on the Jewel have reserved seating in the theatre but we've gotten early admission to the Chocoholic buffet each time we've been in a penthouse.

It might be that the "perks" you described (reserved theatre seating and the chocolate buffet) are not part of the standard "Suite Perks" as indicated by the post by kcwingwalker.

Just wondering where kcwingwalker found this list?

Is this from something in writing that NCL has?

I would really be surprised if there were certain standard suite perks and NCL would not enforce this on all their ships and with all their Concierges.

I am wondering if your lack of ccertain perks on the Star were because of the ship you were on or the concierge?

Suite perks that are "listed" should all be standard regardless of the ship or conceirge or if different by ship, it should be noted by NCL somewhere so suite guests are not disappointed as you were.

Thank You so much for posting this!! Three years ago were offered an upsell 72 hours before sailing. We were on the Jade and had booked a BA. We took the upsell and were booked in room 10502 (Penthouse).

Maybe because we were an upsell (?), but we didn't know anything about any of the perks. I did try read up on them before we left, but the call came about 12 hours before we were flying out to Barcelona for a precruise stay.

Anyway, it was less than stellar. Our butler did escort us to our room, but kept getting calls and finally left. We didn't see him again until the morning we left. Our room steward showed us how to use the coffee machine, told us we could order DVD's, etc.

We never met the concierge, didn't get any snacks delivered to our room, we did have one bottle of water and were charged for it. I thought it was free, but wasn't sure. We also did have a bowl of fruit in our room and a flower arrangement. That was about it.

When I got home and read about all the perks, I was a little disappointed we didn't experience any of this. Oh, we did take extra money to tip the butler, but since we didn't see him the entire trip, we gave it to our room steward---he was awesome!

We still had an awesome trip and just got back from another NCL cruise on the Jewel. We had a balcony cabin and their was no difference in the way we were treated/perks going from one category to the other. I did miss the larger room, huge balcony, and tub!!

We're booked on the Dawn for this November in a family suite w/o balcony (SJ I think). I'm curious to see if the suite life will indeed be "sweet" for us on this time. Either way, we love NCL and have always had a great time cruising with them!

Thanks for this list of perks. I'm going to print them out so I'm prepared for November!

Very different when Sun only has 20 suites, no Haven, two Owner's suites. Should only those two OS' get reserved theater seating? I am glad ALL the suites do, because I much prefer my aft PH suite to tge forward OS.

Oh... Except I lust after their LAVAZZA!

Some of the great work your steward did was probably actually done by the butler when you weren't there.

Lots of people stiff the butler for lots of reasons.

Like some people stiff the whole crew. :(

Note to new members (and old for that matter) here at Cruise Critic:

Contrary to what some might post in their signatures, you need to supply a reason for removing your service charges and allow them to resolve the problem before removing them if they cannot resolve the problem.

That was not my experience at all. On the Pride of Hawaii I dropped our tips down to $10 per person per day and that was generous given the poor service on that ship and was not asked why or anything.

Hope you think the $2 a day you scored was worth stiffing the poor crew who did things behind the scenes. Were your sheets and towels clean? Was the silverware and plates clean? Just a few things... part of "service".

Is this an attempt to 'shame' this person into spending THEIR money in a matter YOU see fit?

I will spend my money as I wish and will also let you spend your money as you wish. Novel concept?

I do not expect what I say here, as my opinion, will matter to this person, as it is after the fact. However, those reading here who don't have the cruise experience as you or I, might not realize that the behind the scenes people are impacted when someone adjusts the DSC for any reason.

Nickel and diming can go both ways. I just believe there are more worthwhile ways to counteract what is perceived as "bad service". It is not the cruising days of old, with the envelopes, where once can give their server $2 a day instead of the recommended $3.50 a day.

I was perplexed, as the difference of $2 the poster removed was minimal. Many would just remove it altogether.

We are all aware, as a result of your many posts, of your position on how you spend your money - or not.

Nope, these were things the steward did that we saw or he did for us while we were there. One thing was my luggage being lost for all but the last 36 hours of our 9 day cruise. Our room steward told us where to go to fill out lost luggage paper work, gave us updates every evening, and while this was done by NCL and not our steward, he came by every evening to pick up our laundry and returned by lunch the next day. He would come by to get the laundry even after servicing the cabin. He showed us how to use the coffee machine, told us about the movies we could order (butler never did this), we asked about getting sodas for the fridge and he went and got them for us, etc. I could go on and on. Like I said, or butler walked us to our cabin, his phone started ringing, he walked out to answer it and we never saw him again until the day we left. No snacks each evening, no nothing. I've cruised alot and our room steward was by far the best steward I have ever had. I even wrote a letter when we got back telling what a great steward he was. Her was the best!!
