Star Princess- ? for prior Western Caribbean Cruisers

What ports are the ones where we will have to tender in, vs. docking right at the pier? FYI, we will be at Montego Bay, Cozumel, Princess Cays and Grand Cayman. Many thanks!!

The Caymans for sure, not sure about MOBAY, I've never been there.

Cozumel and Montego Bay are both docks. Grand Cayman is a tender as well as Princess Cay. =) Karen

We're on the Emerald deck and I've been told that the days we are tendering, we'll hear the lifeboats being lowered, as I guess those are used for the tendering, and it's going to be our noisy wake up call ! : ) I can deal with 2 days.

We tendered in Princess Cays, Mo Bay and Grand Cayman. Mo bay has a dock but can only accomadate one ship so it depends on what other ships are there. The only port we didn't was Cozumel.

We were on the Star in Feb. and we had to tender in while in Montego Bay. It will tell you on your itinerary. Also, Grand Cayman and Princess Cays are tender ports.

It looks like with the size of this ship... lots of tendering is necessary.

 

I was just spoiled by the Celebrity Zenith... we docked the whole time and it was a breeze getting off and on the ship right in Bermuda.

In most ports it actually doesn't depend on the size of the ship if you tender in or not.

 

For Cozumel, you will almost always dock.

 

For Grand Cayman, you will almost always tender-in unless you are taking a Sailing ship.

 

Princess Cays (a "private island") is always a tender port as only Disney have a private island with a dock for their cruise ships.

 

Mo Bay is one of the few wild cards these days. As others have said, it doesn't necesary depend on the the size of the ship, but how may ships are in port at the time.
