Rabies shot needed for Caves in Barbados?

has anyone ever felt that a rabies vaccine was needed before traveling to Barbados, if visiting the caves?

There are bats there, I wondered too, but don't want to get the shot. Anyone ever been bitten by a bat there?

We did this tour in December. Didn't see any bats. They never mentioned anything about bats. Enjoyed the tour.

There were/maybe-are bats at the entrance area to nearby Coles Cave

which is connected to Harrisons Cave, but I'm fairly sure

that there are zero bats in the quite-commercial Harrisons Cave.

 

If they were bats in the early days, they would have been flushed-out years ago

and not allowed to re-enter when dawn breaks, by the closing of large doors.

It's not that difficult to dis-bar bats!

thank you for your input! i probably wont worry about getting the shots, especially as they are expensive and many of them!

You never want to get the rabies shots unless you have serious need for it. I don't know any doctors who would even do it on a preventative measure.

Don't worry ... no bats (if there are any) are going come swarming down on you. :D
