Viking China Tipping question

We are contemplating an 18-day Viking river cruise (11 days) and land tour. Our only other river cruise was last summer in Europe on Scenic, no tipping.

We've read Viking's gratuities guidelines, and are interested in knowing if those guidelines are generally followed, or if not, how you chose to tip.

I promise this is an innocent question and hope not to start a gratuitous gratuities argument! :)

This is from Viking's website on tipping guidelines:

Thanks, all. I'm happy to hear that the service is good enough that you are happy with the level of tips.

Carol, I would have LOVED to have done that for both of us, but we have already been in contact with Viking (a few days ago) and have a quote.
