Miami hotel recommendation

We need a hotel near the Miami port to stay the night before a cruise, nothing fancy just clean and safe and either a shuttle or close enough for a taxi to be reasonable. We will get there late and leave early so don't need any amenities. Thanks everyone

Flying into MIA?

Arriving late and just want dinner and a clean bed, you can save by staying near MIA. Springhill Suites Medical Center offers both airport and port shuttles; other budget options include Comfort Suites North. Better hotels are located in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA (Hampton Inn and others) with a local strip mall just across the street with dining and shopping options. Taxi to the port will run about $26+tip.

You can stay downtown -- check out the Hampton Inn Mary Brickell and Holiday Inn Port of Miami; for probably more $ you can stay at the IC, Marriott or Doubletree. Taxi to downtown hotels from MIA is about $25+tip and another $10-12 cab will get you to the port the next morning.

Travelling with kids? Car seats are the law in FLA, including cabs; bring your own (the airline will check them for free) and tip the cab driver a couple of extra bucks for the time spent installing and uninstalling the seats.

I am staying at the Embassy Suites Miami Airport area. They are 2 rooms suites with breakfast included. There is also a managers reception each evening from 5 - 7 with open bar and light appetizers (free). Hotel provides shuttle service from the airport and for $10 each adult, they will shuttle you to the cruise port also. For my April stay, it is $170 per night + 11% tax.

You can also check out hotwire dot com. Although you don't know the name of the hotel before you purchase, you can chose Miami area, and amenities (free breakfast, shuttle service, pool etc...) You can get great bargains via this website.
