Strange question

Yes this is a strange question....

I need the help of Australians among us.

I'm looking for some things to buy at Coles and was checking their website.

They have specials (for example on the home page for online shopping there is Vegemite in a special).

I can't find anywhere till when this special is going to be.

Is a special an ongoing promotion with no end date???

I noticed that Coles also have promotions what is called weekly specials....

Please help me understand this!!

Hi Yvet,

The major supermarket weekly specials (at least here in NSW) run from a Wednesday through to the following Tuesday. Some specials run for more than a week, though - depends on the time of year, and what they're trying to sell (and occasionally, what they're trying to get rid of ;) ).

HTH.

Cheers,

Sally :)

If you have a look at the top of the catalogue on the coles homepage, you'll see the dates that they're valid. For example, it's in grey at the top now and says "on sale Wed 5th Feb to Tues 11th Feb 2014."

As emum said though, the special may be available longer than that i.e. there are specials that aren't in the catalogue. But if you see a special in the catalogue, it's at least available for that time.

Thanks for the help!

Are you after anything in particular?

We are looking for cases of water and cans of coke zero / sprite zero.

There is a big savings special now...

depending on the port you are going from it is also worth checking Woolworths, the other big supermarket chain in Australia. if one doesn't have something on special no doubt the other one will.

boxes of softdrink cans are often on special - if you can get coke brand around 50c a can you are doing well.

Maybe I have missed something here .............. what does this topic have that is relative to cruises?

To answer the forum police some background information.

We cruise from the IPT circulair quay and arrive a bit earlier and need to find a place to get coke zero cans.

There is a special from Coles going on now and i was wondering if that special is a ongoing discount or that it is a special running for a certain timeperiod because we won't arrive within a few weeks.

Is this enough background so that my question is allowed?!?

Hey settle down.

There was no negative intent in my question. I was actually amused that someone was asking about supermarket specials on a cruise forum ......... thought they had lost their marbles.

Hopefully the Supermarket sells anti anger pills now. :D

Hi Yvet,

Just make sure you use Post Code 2000 these will give you the closest stores to

Downtown Sydney. I'm thinking you may be crew on a ship. I know they are always

after cheaper water and sometimes when I have travelled I have seen specials on water for crew only. This was in Europe. Check out some of the smaller stores near the terminals, and maybe ask the store keepers, it might give them an idea to stock for you. Thats if you are crew of course.

Some other supermarkets chains are: Woolworths

each catalogue has a date at the bottom of the specials usually weekly

if you subscribe via email to there catalogues they will send you the current week and you can usually get the next week one as well. or at least look it up online in advance.

http://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/shop/seasonal/Woolworths-Catalogue-Specials

Coles Catalogues are updated each Monday at 5pm. Catalogue Specials displayed are available in-store each Wednesday through to the following Tuesday (unless otherwise advised).

On-sale dates are noted in each catalogue.

Enter Post Code: 2000

Good Luck :)

I am not from Sydney so there may be other stores close to terminal.

Please don't take offense to anything said in the Au&NZ forums!:p

Thank you!!!

I'm not crew, but it is pure for the days before the cruise.

I'll check the links and hope that closer to our arrival they have another nice special going on!!!

Thanks again
