It looks like the itenerary for the Prinsendam for the first part of 2007 is going to consist of two long cruises of about 2 months each. The Grand World Voyage is scheduled on the Amsterdam. The Prinsendam's Grand Voyages will both begin and end in Fort Lauderdale.

Here's the information that I have so far. It should be published pretty soon.

I would assume that the ports listed in bold type are the segment breaks, so the second tour could be booked as a FLL to Rome, or a Rome to NYC, a Rome to FLL, or a FLL to NYC.

I'll post the Amsterdam Grand World Itenary tomorrow

Great to see that the Amsterdam will actually be circumnavigating the World again...to me that's a real world cruise!:)

Thanks for posting the "soon to be released" itineraries! DH and I leave Saturday to board the "Slinkiedam", we promise to keep it in good shape.;)

During the 2005 Grand world Voyage on the Prinsendam, we received some preliminary information about the 2007 voyages. There was a mention of a possible "special event" with both the Prinsendam and Amsterdam in the same port together. Lo, and behold, the schedules show that on Wed, April 11, both ships will be in Dubrovnik, Croatia from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

Seems like an unusual place for a meetup, but it will be interesting to see what kind of special event takes place.

Grumpy & Slinkie,

Hi Guys!

So, the big question is.... Will you be coming over too visit us on the PRINSENDAM or will you be with us when we go over to visit the AMSTERDAM?

That Med cruise on PRINSENDAM looks wonderful. I showed it to Ruth last night and I think it is a 'must do'. Only port I wish were were doing is Rhodes. Then I could go back to visit my favourite cat!

It will be a good cruise for sure. I hope the weather will cooperate at that time of the year. It is a little bit 'early'.

Hi, Stephen

Right now, we're taking a good look at the South America/Antartic leg... It's very doubtful we would do both Prinsendam cruises... of course, if the stock market is kind to us, that could change:D

Most likely, the next trip into your corner of the world will be by air... yeah, it's a lousy way to travel, but would maximize the amount of time we could spend in Australia... and that is something we really would like to do.

I'm looking forward to getting aboard the Prinsendam in the near future to see your new painting in the forward stairwell and your tiles. We should be able to get a visitor's pass this fall when she is in Fort Lauderdale so we can make sure they're keeping everything shipshape for our future cruises.

I would imagine that you're about ready for some serious cruising time after the work that you've been putting in on your various projects.

The best to you and Ruth.

Looking at the cruise itinerary for the PRINSENDAM Med cruise....

56 days..............

25 SEA DAYS!!!!!!!!!

It is like a wish come true!!!!

Stephen

Where would you prefer to spend those sea days... at the helm or perched on your favorite barstool?

Grumpy. (Did you get my Email?)

I think I'd like to have that lovely comfortable chair up in the wheelhouse that Captain Gundersen sometimes likes to use. Great view. Keep an eye on the navigation. My steward nearby to being 'refreshments'. ;)

Stephen

PS My favourite bar stool was in the Ocean Bar on the old Rotterdam! There is not a ship around that has a bar that can compete with that Ocean Bar. None!

After looking through the three schedules, I noticed something different. None of the 3 cruises is scheduled to stop at HMC. Hmmm, what's up with that??

Grumpy

Hi Grumpy,

Hmmm... I wonder why? Perhaps it is just a case of 'things to do and places to see' for the Prinsendam. Of course on the return leg of the Med cruise the PRDM is coming back via Bermuda and New York.

Any idea whwre she goes after the cruise ends in Lauderdale? Might be fun to go back accross the Atlantic? ;)

Thanks, I did get the e-mail. Everything is in hand!

Best,

Stephen

To those of you who have done a world cruise with HAL: Does HAL supply shuttle buses where possible on the world cruise. We did half a world with Radisson this past year and shuttles were often provided. We are thinking about the Amsterdam cruise in 07, and wondered whether the same is true there. Grumpy: We enjoyed your description of the world cruise in 05. Thanks.

Ahhh, yes! More sea days!

No, I don't have any info on that, but I would think she would go back across to spend the summer in the Baltics as she has done for the past few years. Of course, if you and Ruth would find yourself stranded in fort Lauderdale, we're only two hours from the port.

The shuttles were a pleasant surprise on the 2005 Prinsendam World Tour. Most of the ports had a free shuttle service and we hadn't even thought about that. We weren't expecting it because we had never had free shuttles on any short cruises. There were a few ports where the local cab drivers had enough clout to prevent free shuttles from being provided, but for the most part there was fairly frequent free shuttles from the port to someplace in town. Some of the shuttles were provided by a department store, so that's where you were going to end up, but even then it was often possible to get on a local bus and get to other places.

It was interesting to look over at another cruise ship berthed next to us and see the expressions on their passengers faces when they would see that sign in the window of the bus... PRINSENDAM SHUTTLE BUS... and they had nothing but a line of taxis.

There were times when Frank, our port information guru, told us not to expect a shuttle, but somehow they magically appeared. I guess a lot is going to depend on what the port agent is able to pull together.

I'm glad you enjoyed the thread on the world tour.

Hi Grumpy & Prinsendam......

Those sea days on the Promenade Deck resting up for those nites in teh Ocean Bar........

Hope all is well with you both.

Yep, it's a tough world out there, isn't it. Yes, all is well... or as well as it can be considering that we aren't sailing the oceans of the world...

I'm so glad to see that the Prinsendam is scheduled for cruises in 2007! I was afraid that the Amsterdam's doing the world cruise in 2007 signaled that the Prinsendam would be leaving the fleet. This is good news. Perhaps I'll get to cruise aboard her eventually!

Sadly, I can't take any of these cruises. :( The 56 day cruise would be wonderful, but I can never be gone over easter. While the Jan/Feb cruise would be possible (and wonderful) I don't think I can afford that time either. Not in 2007.

RevNeal, you really need to rethink this... go for the big one, World Cruise on the Amsterdam for 2007. Convince your church that you really need a sabbatical for a few months and how wonderful it would be to be in Haifa, Isreal on Good Friday, not to mention all of those other places around the Mediterranean with so much biblical significance.

On the Prinsendam segment, good Friday in Paris and Easter in Livorno wouldn't be too hard to take either... as I recall, there's a couple of nice churches in both areas...

Thanks, for the info on shuttles. We are booked on the Prinsendam for the west Africa out of Lisbon cruise and waitlisted for the world. First, is anyone else doing the fall cruise of 06 on Prinsendam? And has anyone who has done the world cruise ever felt that it was too long a time to be on ship? The longest we have done in the past is 64 nights on circle pacific. I wrote this message once and lost it, so it may get posted twice. D

I will, some day, make the world cruise. But it will be after I retire (probably sometime around 2040, or so, when I'm in my 80s) due to issues of time and money. Even if I get to take a 3 month Sabbatical, it won't be in 2007 and it won't be during the first 3 months of the year. I could manage to be gone in January and Feb -- perhaps 60 or 65 days -- on a Sabbatical/vacation leave, so long as I'm back in time for most of Lent. But, barring health issues, no serving Senior pastor in the UMC could ever be absent from his/her appointment over Easter or Christmas. It just doesn't happen.
