im4golf Posted February 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Has anyone heard of this company? they offer seeing the Chacchoben ruins for $50.00. On the Carnival, the same one is 80.00. Just wondering if anyone has used this company before. Thanks for your reply.:) Edited February 20, 2014 by im4golf
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2014 Island marketing is a company that works with private vendors in a number of Caribbean ports to help them market their tours. They liaison in getting reservations and handling any up front fees. On the whole they do a good job. It's the individual vendors that sometimes can't be relied on. Not sure who that is for IM going to the ruins. Or what's included, not included versus Carnival. But since the cruise line usually gets around 50% of the take from their excursion providers, the IM tour is probably similar to the Carnival tour. With a ship tour, though, you are guaranteed that the ship won't leave you stranded. Carnival usually eaves CM around 3PMmeaning you need to be back around 2:30. So check the difference in estimated time between Carnival and IM and the difference in start times. With cruise ships all excursioners are coming from the same ship so there's minimum wait time for everyone to show up. With private vendors, if there's more than one ship in port, they may have to wait a lot longer for stragglers.
