In the midst of planning a cruise tour on HAL to Denali and the Yukon. THe land tour is 10 of the 15 days. Can someone advise on the quality of the hotels used by HAL in Denali, Dawson City, etc. Also, are any meals included on the land tours?

Thanks in advance

We did the Yukon/Denali cruisetour in 2012. In Dawson City we stayed at the Westmark Inn (HAL owns Westmark, from what I understand). It's several buildings, two on one side of the road, and a third across the street.

Room was big and quiet (we were in the green building on top corner away from main building

In Denali we stayed at the McKinley Chalets. Lobby and entrance newer than rooms (at least the room we were in).

Room was fairly small, but two separate rooms, one with couch and desk, second room with double bed and single bed.

The only meals included in the land portion were the welcome dinner (first night in Whitehorse) and a meal during the included tour in Fairbanks (at the riverboat landing).

The hotels are good and centrally located. All will have places to eat nearby and in the hotel. Very few meals are included while in transit and you may find it is easier at the end of the day to eat at the hotel. There will probably be a meal plan available through HAL if you are interested.

The pictures above are great. You may find your room slightly different. The Chalets at Denali has cabins and a multistory hotel at the same location. The hotels are clean and comfortable for someone who is just passing through! Your tour leader will give you your room key when you arrive at the hotel.

They do. Is it any wonder that they send their tours there.
