marciab Posted February 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2014 We booked Aqua Class for our upcoming Iceland/Norwegian Fjords cruise. We were in aqua class for our last short cruise, but sailing with family members who were not, so only ate in Blu one morning. We are travelling just as a couple this cruise, not with a group. In the past when we haven't been with a group we have always enjoyed dining with others in the MDR. Is this an option in Blu? Also, on the Celebrity site, it states we are listed for traditional dining at 6:15 in the MDR... even though we are aqua class. So I'm a little confused.. I'm assuming dress code in Blu is the same as MDR? Thanks for any help!
Gonzo70 Posted February 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2014 With Blu you dine with your own party. If you are in Aqua Class you are assigned tom Blu automatically and it is open seating. Dress code is smart casual and above every night - no mandatory formal night in Blu (but many do dress up - you will not feel out of place either decision you make). If you want to dine with others you may want to seek others out on your roll call in Aqua Class who might be up for that.
Rare Eglesbrech Posted February 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Most of the tables in blu are for 2 but they are so close together that you can chat with those at the next tables. We always found lovely people around to talk to if you want to if you want to but you can eat at your own pace at the table for 2.
coldweathergirl Posted February 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2014 A few years ago when we were dining in Blu, the Maitre'd would put willing couples together at larger tables especially if the dining room was busy and it would be a wait for a regular table. We did this a few times and it was great.
dkjretired Posted February 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) Even though you have a traditional time, Blu is anytime dining. Assigning you to a time is just a weakness in Celebrity's computer system. You will receive a letter in your cabin explaining the dining, they will ask you the first night to go at your assigned time but if that is inconvienent just go when you want. Blu generally seats you at your own table however the tables are so close together, it is pretty much inevitable that you will meet other people. That was my experience on the Silhouette. We ended up chatting with our neighbors on a number of nights. If you want to dine with new friends from Cruise Critic or others you meet on the ship they will happily seat you together when you arrive.
