BudNBailey Posted August 24, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 24, 2004 As for Break Away Charters, yes we've used them. We were on a guided trip with Capt. Bill Ball this past July. He took us out in the afternoon and we caught sharks (threw them back-but fun to catch-biggest one was 6 ft nurse shark). Then we stayed out until dusk and tried to catch tarpon. Again, fun, fun, fun fish to snag and fight, but no good to eat. You catch Tarpon for sport fishing! Loads of fun when they hit the line! We never reeled one to the boat, but one jumped out while fighting the line and it had to be as long and fat as a telephone pole! Capt. Ball also helped us catch all our bait fish to use for the sharks and tarpon. We used pin fish as bait and for some of us in the group, catching the little bait fish was great fun. Once Capt put chum in the water and helped us bait the hooks, we caught bait fish everytime we put a hook in the water. As Capt. Ball says, you can never have enough bait fish. :) If fishing is your thing, you have to fish in Key West...lots of water, lots of fish! Have Fun! lakeluvr Posted September 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2004 with the Linda D group each time. First time (October) I caught a 6.5' Sailfish and we all caught lots of dolphin fish; second time (September), we all caught lots of dolphin fish. Capt. and First Mate Jon cleaned them and we took them to a local restaurant where they cooked them 4 different ways for us! Fresh and Deelish! :p I would recommend this boat to anyone - Jon is a great 1st mate and the Capt. know his stuff! Plan to take your bagged lunch and some liquid refreshment!:D Lisa
