Va. Plumber Posted February 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2014 The perks question has been asked and answered here hundreds of times. A search of NCL perks will give you what is available for each category. As to use of butler and concierge: The butler showed up shortly after boarding. Explained everything in suite. Showed us how coffee machine worked. Took note of requests for beverages, depending on suite level. Cleaned out refrigerator to make room for other things. Came by during day to refresh coffee, fruit, etc. Brought afternoon snacks. Served at least two meals in-suite. Brought wine left in suite to dining room at dinner a couple of times. And just made a point of checking on our welfare. The concierge or his assistant was always available during breakfast each morning. Made last minute reservations for MDR and specialty restaurants. Stopped by a couple of times while we were dining. Recommended excursions and reserved them. Took care of getting spa passes. Made reservations for chef's dinner. Met us each morning to facilitate (secret passage) getting off ship. Met us onshore to get us on tender. Arranged bridge tour. Arranged for us to see Garden Villa prior to debarking. Rare mizLORInj Posted February 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) The butler will deliver and set up your room service, and also replenishes coffee and other things in your cabin. (Room steward is separate) As mentioned, the concierge makes reservations for whatever you'd like, gives pointers and tips for ports, and serves as escort off the ship for suite guests--this is valuable if you have a tender port particularly, or for leaving the ship to debark. Some people utililize both of them a lot; some hardly use their services. Edited February 25, 2014 by mizlorinj

There is a small magnifying glass symbol adjacent to it. Yes I know that one is there. I have less luck and results with it than I do with google (which I don't have a lot of luck finding what I'm looking for without trying many different word formations". I for one, am patiently waiting for the regular board search function to repaired.

I for one, am patiently waiting for the regular board search function to repaired. If one searches using "Norwegian Butler Concierge", many relevant threads come up that answer the OPs exact query. It isn't the same search function that we had before, but you can still locate answers using this alternative approach.
KweezyCruiser Posted February 25, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2014 In addition to the daily snacks, our butler brought the chocolate chip cookies, gummy bears and peanut M&Ms requested by my daughter. He also asked what we would like waiting when we returned from an excursion (we had no idea) and showed up with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. He brought my daughter the cheesecake brownie from Osheehans that she loved. My stomach hurts just thinking about it - but it was all for my daughter, not for me..;) The concierge got us priority disembarkation, priority access to Cirque Dreams, and a 7:30 table at a specialty restaurant that was showing no availability. cabincop Posted February 25, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Your butler can also arrange parties in your suite if you like. They set up for drinks and appetizers or dinners in your suite. MY butler also gives me info on the ports I am going to. In europe I ran into my butler on the shuttle bus and he showed me the train and sat with me as we were both going into Rome. They have helped me with my ipod and with what outfit to wear lol. I have been very lucky with my butlers. Nothing beats the concierge getting you on and off the ship at ports so you don't have to wait in line with everyone else. I also try and get the same butler when I know they will be on the ship I am going to. I make sure and tip them well because I appreciate them so much

A search of NCL perks will give you what is available for each category.... The issue of the search function being down has been asked and answered here seemingly a hundred times this month. LOL! And, often the suggestion to just use google comes up. If you type this into google, you will get lots of answers - though other posters have already covered things. I think there is a similar question asked a few days ago. It might be on the 2nd page of current postings. AjBren2 Posted February 26, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 26, 2014 Why must people be bashed for asking a question? Probably every question that is currently asked on this forum has been asked before. If people do not want to answer a question that has already been asked, then don't. This forum should be about helping people find answers to questions, sharing experiences, and interacting with other people about a subject that apparently appeals to all of us, not to try to make someone feel like crap for not wanting to, or not knowing how to search. Maybe someone, by asking a question is trying to start a connection, or start a dialogue. Either way, it is my belief that if you do not want to answer or add something constructive to the topic at hand, you should just move on to find one that does instead of the unnecessary commentary. Yeah totally agree with you here. We are set to be first time butlered guests (first time in a full & proper suite) on Getaway, and I came to this thread actually looking for actual information but unfortunately over half the "responses" are people who think it is a better idea to spend 10 minutes putting a "why don't you search for butler threads" post, when they can spend less than 5 minutes ACTUALLY PROVIDING RELEVANT INFORMATION. IMHO (and I'm not afraid to say what everyone is thinkin here) its that kind of thing that shows the true colors of of many (but not necessarily all) of those cruisers that do stay in nothing less than suites/Haven on every cruise. We've never done this suite/Haven thing before, and are doing it to celebrate our 5th anniversary, but I seriously hope I don't have to mingle with people who carry themselves like that while I'm in the Haven.

My wife has been over two years without a vacation due to a change of jobs and now returning to college. Since the lack of vacation for so long we decided to go all in and splurge for the suite and be pampered for a week. Since we decided to cruise and booked in November, I have been religiously combing this forum site looking for little nuggets of information gold. There are a lot of helpful people on here with very good ideas and information, so don't get too discouraged. On the other side of the coin, there are a lot of people on here that seem intent on trying to make people as miserable as they are. As stated, I booked a 2 BR Haven Villa for my family and came to the forum and asked if any areas of the Haven were off limits to kids. The first responder decided to inform me that I needed to supervise my kids in the Haven and that people on the forum wouldn't like me and that I would be "flamed" for even asking such a question. Really?!? For asking a question I get chided by a complete stranger whom I will probably never meet in person. Not that I care what a complete stranger thinks, but it seems that because people can hide behind the anonymity of the internet they can prove what kind of person they really are. These days common courtesy isn't so common! Sorry for ranting on the OPs thread. I'll get off my soapbox now...

lex_n_saph Posted February 26, 2014 #23 Share Posted February 26, 2014 I think my wife and I are the rare case but…….we did not use either for anything. We're similar, in that we never really utilized the butler or the concierge, although they were both very pleasant. We actually felt so bad about not using the service that we had the butler serve us breakfast one day, as he has kept telling us that we could do this at anytime. I think there are forum members for whom this is their entire social life (sadly), and when someone new "intrudes" it disrupts their sense of family or something. Oh, and people are jerks. LOL The concierge tracked us down the second to the last night to ask us where we have been all week he never heard from us? We just shrugged our shoulders and laughed. At 50 years old at the time we were still able to pick up the phone to make dinner reservations I said. On the other hand we did see other people really abusing the butler we had. Calling him on the portable phone from the Spa and asking him to bring a book up from the persons cabin……thats just crazy
