Rest of 2014 Dry-Docks: What do you think the ships will get?

I think the elation and paradise will get extensive upgrades.

They are the newest in the class. (newer then sunshine) also they didnt get evolutions of fun.

They still have the old style staterooms and no water park.

All eight of those older, no..ancient Fantasy Class ships need to be sold on to other operators

(IberoCruises awaits the decision).

Nothing would improve the overall quality of Carnival's fleet more than that!

Thanks for posting the schedule,

I was wondering when Victory would get the upgrades, glad to see an actual date for it.

Hopefully flat screens in the staterooms will be part of the upgrade...

Good Luck with that TV replacement wish!

We were on Valor a week ago. Our TV in the cabin was a PHILIPS

-no doubt part of the original kitting-out of the ship, back in 2004.

Philips is European, if I'm not mistaken, and probably quite bulletproof.

Those original equipment TVs are now ten yrs.old -and still going!

I should think Carnival doesn't fancy changing-out three thousand WORKING TV's.

When they die, they'll get replaced.

Oh wow, really? It seems I heard they switched them out on other ships in the past? Well I guess it's just wishful thinking then, although I know the TV's aren't the most important aspect of the cruise :)

Speak for yourself.... Many seasoned cruisers still love the fantasy class.

IberoCruises is down to two ships from three right now (Grand Holiday and Grand Celebration, both old Carnival ships). It might make sense in the next few years for a new ship to be added to their fleet.

However, I really like the Fantasy class and don't want to see any of them go for a long time.

Totally agree. They are the workhorses of Carnival's fleet and some cruisers -- my mom among them -- prefer the smaller ships.

...And, where else will you find a Serenity area located aft, out of the wind, with a gorgeous view of the ship's wake AND the hot-tubs open 'til midnight?

One new ship joins the fleet, then get rid of... eight.

Because that makes abundant sense.

Because Carnival has a glut of cabins to try to fill. If they cut back capacity by a third, it would raise prices across the fleet and they'd make more money. The airlines did it out of survival and it has worked well for them.

TVs are actually one of the most cost effective upgrades that a ship can have. New LCD TVs require less than half of the power compared to the CRTs. That's going to be at least 50 watts of savings per TV in 1,000-1,600 staterooms depending on the class of ship being upgraded.

The following ships currently have a dry-dock scheduled for this year (in no particular order):

Carnival Freedom, Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Elation, and the Carnival Pride

If you want to see the current scheduled dates available you can check out the schedule I made:

http://www.embarkandaway.com/carnival-drydock-schedule.html

I hope you enjoy the information that I compiled and please remember that this is always subject to change. I am not perfect, but I will do my best to keep everybody updated with the known facts. If you are considering booking because you see a dry-dock & hope to have an updated ship you should always be weary and understand that the dates could shift.

What do you think will happen to each of these ships?

What do you want to see put onboard?

Nice. A few of the Carnival Cruise Ship's Drydock Info have As of dates...but you might consider the as of info for each and every one of them...including the N/A ones...that is...unless I missed something. :):):):)
