1160451 Posted March 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2014 We went on a mini cruise on Ventura, it's the same as Azura. If you haven't cruised before do not think a mini cruise is anything like a normal 14 day cruise. We went to Bruges as well, nice enough, had a boat trip round the city. On board ship don't try and cram everything in, it's a large ship and your only on 2 or 3 nights. On our mini cruise we always seemed to be skipping from one lounge to another to see everything and ended up seeing 10 minutes of every show. Just spent 14 days on the Azura and I still got lost on the last day. Have a good time that's the best tip ........:-)
simonpjd Posted March 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2014 Bruges is a lovely city. An old Hanseatic town so lots of good history there. Along with the fruit beers, mussels and chips, lace and chocolate. If you have done it before then try the excursions to the WW1 battlefields , trenches and cemeteries. It should be mandatory for everyone to do this in their life. Maybe not the most cheerful of trips but a must do all the same. As for the ship. Just enjoy it. You will be amazed at how enormous she is and at how many activities are going on all the time. Most of all just have a great time.
Elviex Posted March 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2014 It was the mini cruise in Azura our first cruise ever, and got us hooked! As the others say, don't try and cram it all in, just enjoy what you can. Bruges is lovely, easy to walk round and plenty of comfort breaks in cafés! Cappers Posted March 3, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2014 Is it by any chance the 3 nighter on 4th April? I'm looking at that one, I love Azura, beautiful ship :) I still can't work out what the day at sea is all about though! Does anybody know for sure what time we would arrive in Bruges? Ty Olwen Posted April 4, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We are going on Azura June 15th and it's our first time on her - been on Ventura previously . Any tips on getting the most out of this ship ? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Forums
silversurf Posted April 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Bruges is a beautiful town, but be careful if you take a P and O tour and have mobility problems. It is a long way from where the coach parks to the centre. Our guide set a cracking pace and then there was lots of standing around with nowhere to sit while they give their talks on the area. Then the walk back to the coach, which we nearly missed as I took 15 minutes more than the rest of the party to get back to the coach park. The canal cruise is lovely. I would suggest you either do your own thing in Bruges so you can do it at your own pace or choose an excursion which is classed as 'L' , low activity. Can't help with Azura at the moment but we are going on this ship to the fjords in May. P.S. I have now bought myself a walking stool so I can sit and rest during the talks. alvin moondust Posted April 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We are going on Azura June 15th and it's our first time on her - been on Ventura previously . Any tips on getting the most out of this ship ? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Forums Well if you have been on Ventura you have been on Azura LOL:) The two ships are very similar, The main difference being that the Covered pool on Ventura is replaced by an open air area with SeaScreen cinema on Azura, Also the Casino is on the port side on Azura, Other than that it is really just different decor, We enjoyed both ships very much, In fact I booked yesterday for Azura four weeks from Now...YAY:)

Antmadmanda Posted April 7, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 7, 2014 Do visit the beer wall, and try to fit in a brewery tour! If you get a chance, and haven't seen it, watch the film In Bruges before you go. We actually watched it one rainy day when we were staying there. yorvik Posted April 9, 2014 #13 Share Posted April 9, 2014 Bruges is a pretty town to walk around, but is a good stroll to the Markt Place, which if you google it,it has a webcam. Do take a map because its very confusing street layout
