Did we make good choice?

Reserved for Volendam (7 day Alaska - Vancouver). We had terrible time deciding on cabin, but between middle of Lower Promanade, and the Dolphin front (which from what I read would make me sea sick). Hope our choice of G 2706 on Main Deck will be good.

Maybe there are no Bad rooms?

Who knows maybe they will offer changes?

Another thing I noticed is there is a main dining (with no set time anymore and some sort of flexible dining) It all sounded the same.

Any advice about Holland America & ship would be appreciated. Haven't sailed with them before.

The Open Seating dining option is on the lower level of the dining room. It is open from 5:15 - 9 (9:30 on some ships). You can show up whenever you are ready for dinner and ask for any size table. If you do want to make reservations, you can make them for 3 days at a time only between the times of 5:15 - 6:15 and 7:30 - 9.

Fixed dining is on the upper level - times are 5:30 (may even be as early as 5:15) and 7:45. Your TA can request a certain size table if you are interested in that.

Hi joey,

Welcome aboard to CC and to HAL. We have also booked the Alaska cruise on the Volendam and can't wait to go. Here is a thread on a wonderful review of a previous cruiser's experience: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1841439

We enjoyed the thread so much that we immediately booked the cruise.

You may also want to check out the Roll Calls for the date of your cruise and see if you can connect with anyone else on your cruise.

As for the location of your stateroom, some people love the aft of a ship while some people do not. If you are prone to sea sickness, the general consensus is mid ship and low as the argument is that this is where movement is least noticeable.
