Honeymoon Registry

Has anyone used this?

We signed up for it and have heard good things. But I am curious as if anyone here has used it. And maybe give me some more insight as to how it works.

We received a few gifts on it for Christmas but I know we can't make any reservations until we get on board. I haven't cruised since 2007 and this is my fiance's (soon to be husband's first time) so any insight would rock! :)

I used it last year, and found it worked really well. I also discovered you can request the money be transferred to your bank account so you could make reservations etc beforehand. We ended up declining to do that though, not wanting to be tempted to spend some of it in other ways and wanting to have it all for the honeymoon as the givers intended.

We were told if you don't use all of it as onboard credit, it will be refunded to your card registered on the seapass. No clue if that works or not though, we used it all :D

Also its all just regular onboard credit, except anything sent towards the casino, that came as a slip of paper in our cabin that had to be taken to the casino where they gave us credits for the machines etc or cash. My Husband used it to enter the win a cruise poker tournament and came in 3rd place winning $450!!

It really made our honeymoon extra special and I hope you guys have a fantastic time. Congrats!!!

We had registered for this but didn't receive any gifts. A number of our friends / wedding guests told us they had issues with the website and were put off by the high fees charged to give a gift through the registry. Seems like it is cumbersome and costly for guests to share with you.

I believe if people use Gifts and Gear they are not hit with the surcharges of the honeymoon registry.

I would LOVE to be able to book everything before we get on the ship so that we don't have any issues. I heard that it can sometimes take days to show up on your Sea Pass card. Is that true?

Also, tekeella what was some of your favorite things to use it for?

I read the fine print and didn't really love the idea of the 10% service fee. I understand that it is a 3rd party business and they need to make a profit, but I would rather not lose out on that much.

Luckily, my TA offered to act as our "Honeymoon Registry" by noting RCI gifts we are interested in and suggesting them, prices for excursions we like, or just assigning amounts towards our final payment for any wedding guests who choose to contact her about giving towards the honeymoon. She is doing this as a personal favor (although she probably gets some commission on gifts/add-ons she books to our stateroom). If she didn't offer this, I would have considered biting the bullet for the RCI-affiliated site's fees, but I am glad to not have to give up part of my family and friends' hard-earned money to some website.

You can go through different free websites that allow you to create what the giver would be paying for, they print off a voucher and include the money or check in a card and you can use it towards your cruise. We used a "honeymoon fund" website and we were really happy with it....just add the two words together, take out "moon" and add .com

We already have gifts we received through them and already sent out the invitations with the honeymoon registry information. So we can't change where we are registered.

We aren't using a travel agent so that's not an option for us to ask one.

I will have to deal with the fees I guess :(

The fee is charged to the gift giver. Like I said, our guests were put off by the fees since it wasn't of any real value. A number of people who gave us traditional wedding gifts said they had intended it to be for the honeymoon. It's really better this way; the money is in the bank and we can use it or not without feeling we have to spend it.

Don't sweat it, I think you'll see many people opt for a traditional wedding gift and won't bother with Royals honeymoon registry. Have an awesome trip. Also, remember to eat at the wedding or you will plotz. :D

We didn't love the fees thing either but left it up to the givers to decide if it was worth it to them to give through the registry or some other means.

It showed up on the 2nd day of the cruise I believe but it doesn't matter really how long it takes to show up as long as it does show up since we linked to my credit card, meaning we made all the purchases we wanted and it would not have been charged till the last day anyways.

We booked kayaking in Labadee, ziplining in Falmouth and the Everglades air boat tour in Forty Lauderdale. We also splurged with fun drinks and other things we wouldn't have. We also picked up a couple gifts in the shop for our nephews and niece.
