Cruise out of Cape Liberty - pre-cruise stay in NYC

We will be sailing on Celebrity Summit out of Cape Liberty on a Sunday in June. We are a party of 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Thought it would be fun to fly in on Friday or Sat morn (fly into EWR or LGA?), stay in NYC, sightsee until Sun morning, and then get ourselves to Cape Liberty. After cruise, we would probably fly out of EWR.

Questions:

(1) Should we do a multi-city flight (CVG-LGA/EWR-CVG), or just roundtrip between CVG/EWR or CVG/LGA?

(2) If we do multi-city to LGA, what is best way to get to Cape Liberty on Sunday morning?

(3) If we do roundtrip (CVG/EWR), is it feasible to get to midtown Manhattan from EWR on our own, or should I just pay-up and get car service/taxi?

It sounds like to best way to get from the port post-cruise, is to get a taxi (mini-van) at the port. Is that correct?

Thanks for any help.

Have you found a hotel for 5 people in New York?

You would need a car service to get you from LGA to NYC. You can take the airport bus from Newark Airport to NYC for $32 for the two adults and $10/child. Even with a cab at the other end, this would probably be a lot cheaper than a car service for five from Newark to NYC.

Car service would be the best way to get to Cape Liberty from NYC. However, if you can manage your luggage, public transit via Path and light rail and cab could be a lot cheaper.

Your least expensive way back to Newark airport from the port would be to book Independent driver - 888-816-0973 for about $55-60.
