Eating & Drinking Onboard RCCL--Confused!

Recommended Posts

We are booked on a forthcoming cruise to the Med with RCI and wanted to ask if coke, water, tea, coffee are free on board the Sernades of the seas.

Coke is not included. Water, tea, coffee, iced tea, lemonade, milk, juice at breakfast, and no-calorie flavored water are included in your cruisefare

You don't HAVE to buy a package to get any drink.

Included in your fare is ice water, coffee, tea (hot or iced) lemonade, milk, and juice at breakfast.

Everything else can be bought "a la carte"....

If you plan to drink many different kinds of alcoholic drinks, then the most expensive package will cover just about everything.

If you are big wine drinkers, then buying a package will be more cost effective than buying by the glass, or even, buying a bottle nightly.

You just need to really check out the packages, and attempt to figure out where the "break even" point is.

You do NOT need to buy any of the packages in advance....you can wait until you're on the ship, or even, buy it on day 2! There's no rush. If you buy after day 1, the package prices are pro-rated for the remaining day...but the minimum you must buy is for the last 4 days of the cruise.[/quote]

That's good to know. Not sure about buying the premium package but it's good to know that the package prices are pro-rated in case I do decide to purchase one!

This probably goes without saying [which is why no one has said it yet] but as to dining, specialty restaurants are not exactly like the drink packages. You don't have to buy a package for the entire cruise or any part of it. If you decide you want to eat a meal in a specialty restaurant, you can do that, even the same day if they have space [although advanced reservations is better because they tend to fill up].

Hi so you can buy a drinks package after you board RCI cruise ? This may be a good solution.

Sure. That way you can ask the people on board specific questions about what is included.

Hi are we allowed to take an alcohol allowance on to the ship just like if you were on a flight also cigarettes to consume on board for the RCI Cruises.

Also same question should you wish to buy some duty frees if you stop at a port to go on an excursion are you allowed on board with them within a limit.

Thanks in advance for your feedback

The only alcohol you are allowed to bring on the ship and keep with you are two bottles of wine, and only at initial embarkation. Any other alcohol you bring on board will be taken from you and then returned to you at the end of the cruise. I'm not aware of any limits to how much alcohol they will hold for you.

Up to two bottles of wine per cabin containing a passenger 21 or over may be brought on board at embarkation. A reasonable number of cigarettes per person may also be brought, for personal consumption. I've not heard that there was a specific limit, but you may find one if you try to bring 300 cigarettes for a 5-night cruise...

Duty-free purchases will be held for you by the ship until the last night, when they are delivered to your cabin with the expectation that you'll be carrying them off in the morning, not consuming them all in one night. How much is allowed is typically between you and the Customs agents, and the ship is unconcerned.
