Atlantis Paradise Island-Nassau

Recommended Posts

We dock at Nassau on Aug 14 and would like to go to Atlantis. Ive been reading about booking a room at Comfort Inn Paradise Island to get the 4 day passes. So do I book Aug 14 itself? Its our first cruise and first time in Nassau. Can someone help us on how this procedure goes? Do we just take a taxi? How do we do that from ship?

No need to book a room. You can pre-book the excursion through NCL and they provide transfers back and forth including a day pass that lets you into the whole resort. You could book it independantly for a little cheaper, but then your not garenteed anything and if you miss you transfer your out of luck. My opinion after doing Atlantis a few times with NCL is to book through NCL ahead and not worry about anything, but enjoying that amazing resort! Have fun!

I am quite sure there is a large difference in price between the ship tour and the hotel next door- there shouldnt be a fear of missing the transfer, as the Atlantis is within viewing distance of the where the ship docks--not walking distance but a 3 mile trip

Take a taxi to the Comfort Suites, which is right next to Atlantis. Book it for the day you are in Nassau and you check in and out at the same time - they are very used to cruise passengers doing this (unless you want to use the room later on to get changed, in which case you would check out later). You will get tickets that you will exchange for wristbands once at Atlantis - they will tell you where to go to do this. It's all pretty straightforward. Just make sure to leave plenty of time to get back to the ship. There are always taxis lined up outside of Atlantis to take you back to the ship. We found the cost savings over ship excursions well worth the minor inconvenience, but how much you save depends on the number of people in your party (four works out well), and the time of year you go.

Comfort suites increased their price for a room. Its now $251 for seniors rate king bed a night in August.

Still way cheaper for 4 than the NCL excursion rate. Taxi to and from Atlantis is only $4 pp each way. If you are there a full day (we will be there from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m.) it may just be worthwhile booking the CS. The only downside is that the CS will charge you for the room 3 days before you arrive - so if weather is bad, you are stuck paying anyway.

You can also look at resortforaday dot com they offer packages for Atlantis which include all taxes and you also get a room at Comfort Inn. Booking direct at Comfort Inn is sometimes cheaper if you can book 8 or 9 months ahead but with all the taxes and fees they charge this may be an alternative. I haven't used them for Nassau but I have used them in Jamaica for a resort day and everything went great.

We just took a taxi and purchased day passes at the resort. They were being sold in a little booth inside the main casino.

Yes that is where they are sold. Just an FYI it can be quite smoky on that casino and of course you have to walk through it at some point but I remember being very glad I had pre purchased my tix and didn't have to Sarandon the line in the smoky casino. Just an FYI. Also I did the Ncl excursion as it was just 2 of us this trip.

How many passes will CS give you? If I book a room online its $279 for 2 people but if I change it to 4 it charges me $359~which is the $40 charge for 3rd/4th person. So if I only book for 2 can I get more passes at no extra charge or what? Also are you charged all these fees?

Energy surcharge: 15.95 per person per night. Housekeeping gratuities: 5.00 per person per night These are additional charges not included in nightly estimated total and must be paid directly at the hotel.

Persons 16 and older are charged as adults. 3rd/4th person charged 40.00 per night + tax and service charges.

And this tax is added on when you book: Flat Taxes: $20.950 per person, per night

Just trying to figure out if this is actually cheaper than buying the excursion through NCL or just going and getting the pass at Atlantis~

Same here. But no luck. For that day (04/25/2014), the rate for 2 adults and 1 child it is $371. Plus there is some confusion around whether they require a 2 night stay or not. I will be calling them tomorrow to confirm. That is why we have asked another poster here to let us know how much were the passes. That way we could make some informed decision. If it is only few dollars off, then it is not worth the hassle to go there. Let's hope he/she posts the prices.
