Philob Posted March 12, 2014 #26 Share Posted March 12, 2014 walk down to the Ferry building. walk across the street. underground will be the muni entrances. go down into embarcadero stop. catch the N Judah car outbound. get off at 9th and Irving. walk north one block..into park. walk three more blocks into park and you will be at area of japanese tea garden, academy of sciences and de Young museum. Careful Embarcardero Station has two levels: you want MUNI and not BART. MUNI is $2 pp good for two hours, any direction.
agabbymama Posted March 14, 2014 #27 Share Posted March 14, 2014 That's the Ports of Call area. Lots of restaurants, shops, etc. Just tell a taxi driver that's where you want to go. Actually I think Shoreline Village is on the Aquarium side in Long Beach. Ports of Call is quite a distance away in San Pedro.

sassyredhat Posted March 15, 2014 #29 Share Posted March 15, 2014 Wow! What a selling feature for those of us who have never been there before. Excuriosns are still offered at this port, so I'm hoping it can't be that bad. I'm another one who thinks the 2 winery tour is good. We have been to Ensenada many times, and still enjoyed the tour. The Blowhole tour isn't bad, but there will be a ton of vendors trying to get you to buy. Even though we don't really take any more tours there, we still get off the ship and look through the shops at the pier. You can get a bus from the pier into town if you can't walk far-we can't. Stay on the main streets, don't drink any unbottled water, and enjoy a snack or a drink there. Pat
CruzinNoony Posted March 16, 2014 #30 Share Posted March 16, 2014 DH and I are on the April 6 cruise out of San Francisco too. We love whale watching and booked a private tour in Santa Barbara with Double Dolphin for $33.00 pp. The ships tour is 3 times that amount. ;)
