Getaway - Smoking policy?

I thank all of you for your posts, well almost everyone. I expected a few responses, but wow. This has been very entertaining to read and I feel I have been enlightened. We had hoped to visit the casino, but if it's not well ventilated, they won't be getting our money. I'm sure we'll find plenty of places where smoking isn't permitted.

And to add to another notable mention, I hope the rules are enforced regarding kids in the 'adults only' areas, but I know that discussion is in a different thread I will visit later.

For those of you waiting for or planning your next cruise, have a wonderful time.

And thanks again for your time and comments.

Sometimes it can be as simple as me asking the other person to hold their cigarette in the other hand so it is not next to me. It really does all boil down to common courtesy...

Funny story, a friend and I were in Atlantic City playing slots late at night. This older woman (must have been in her 70s) walked up to us and asked in a raspy voice "do either of you have a light?" I replied no ma'am I don't smoke. She said (I sear to the lord exactly this) "well go f*$k yourselves then". I had to ask my friend if I heard what I though i did. We both laugh about it to this day and say GFY to each other whenever we sit at those same slot machines!

Post of the day. :)

I read through this whole thread and did not find my question answered!

Where do smokers smoke on the pool deck (Getaway)? I read somewhere about a "caged" area. Are they really confined so smoke does drift towards sunbathers / kids area?

TIA.

Thankfully, society is moving away from smoking because of the health hazards (as evidenced by so many non-smoking public areas, venues, etc.). NCL is just behind the times, a money making decision I imagine, I can only assume they appeal to more smokers....Freestyle means free to slowly kill yourself! I've worked in health care for 38 years, so I know the affects first hand, and ignoring them, making light of them or blowing them off, doesn't make them go away and doesn't change the proven facts. No argument will change those facts.

I personally do not care if people smoke, it's their body, but when their smoke affects my health, that's another matter....and to compare smoking to kids in the adult area, someone drinking too much alcohol, tipping, etc., is ridiculous, because those things, while annoying, do not affect anyone else's health around them or on the ship.

It would be nice if someone could figure out how to make cigarettes that do not produce smoke....that would solve a lot of problems. But then it wouldn't be "smoking" would it???? Ha!

OP, I guess we'll just have to figure out where the non-smoking areas are once we're on the ship and stay away from the smoking ones (including anywhere near the casino). I'll have more money to spend in Bermuda, whoo hoo!

Thanks for the lecture. Maybe you are on the wrong thread? Nobody compared smoking to any of those things on this thread, that I recall

Actually they have figured out how to make a "cigarette" that doesn't produce smoke, it's called an e-cig but unfortunately with all the rules and regulations that go along with it, it is not worth the effort to a lot of smokers to switch over to it.

The OP did get an answer to their question.

Because for some reason gamblers smoke
That's like saying...

....so lets allow smoking in bars.

Some non-gamblers smoke.

Some gamblers don't smoke.

I didn't say ALL I said most

No you didn't. And where's your evidence that MOST gamblers smoke? Ridiculous statement IMHO

Not making any judgement on anyone but in Atlantic City the vast majority of every casino floor is non-smoking now.

Can't let the non-smokers get any where near smoke. It might kill them within a few hours.

I do not mean to put fuel on the fire, but the casino on GA is smoking, and the restaurants are supposedly non smoking, which doesn't make any sense to me as the noodle bar ls located within the casino. I guess that they sell smoked noodles in there....just saying.

No gas on the fire. The casino area near the Noodle Bar is non smoking. In fact until you reach the sides of atrium the casino is smoke free.

Ridiculous? Oh...Pot - Kettle, sir.

Smoking, gambling, and drinking are addictive behaviors. You don't even have to pass Psych 101 to see the coorrelation.

These percentages of gamblers who smoke are very similar to the overall percentage of the U.S. population that smokes (20.9%).

20% is nowhere near MOST.

I really like the noodle bar and ate there a few times on the Breakaway (lunch and dinner). I can't say I noticed any smoke at all.

You're welcome ;) and yes, someone did, read through them.....

I guess only smokers are allowed to express their opinions.....The rest of us are "lecturers", LOL!

Please keep in mind that numbers (majority of gamblers), don't really interest the powers that be. It's the type of gamblers that do. Studies show that heavy gamblers are more likely to be smokers.
