Can someone tell me please if when the ship is in port are the restaurants etc. still open, surely not everyone goes ashore. Is it unusual for some passengers to remain on board? also, how many formal nights are there on the cruise to Halifax?

Thanks !!

Hi Jeffrey

In our experience we found everything open when the cruise ships pull into port. It is not unusual for passengers to remain on board on any cruise. If the cruise you are looking at has five nights, there is one elegant night. If it is a seven day cruise then there will be two elegant nights. We have enjoyed the relaxed pace of Canadian cruises. Enjoy!

Jeffrey,

Yes, the restaurants are open and usually the slide and pool as well. The only things that must close in port are the casino and onboard shops. Though we are doing the Canada cruise this fall for the first time, we have stayed onboard the ships at the Caribbean ports and enjoyed the quiet time :)
