Motorcycle Girl Posted March 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Basically lots of people are going to call you a liar and say that you have no idea what you're talking about and that Carnival doesn't offer this promotion. But, from what I understand, it basically means for this one cruise you are considered Platinum with all the Platinum benefits. I say, congrats and enjoy!! :D
blondietink Posted March 12, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Got the promotion in the mail. There are 4 of us but only one of us got it.

vincentharris Posted March 13, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2014 Why is Carnival doing this? I can only see it as devaluing everyone who spent the time/money to get to platinum
med9114u Posted March 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 13, 2014 Why is Carnival doing this? I can only see it as devaluing everyone who spent the time/money to get to platinum Yes and no...I am Platinum and see your point, but look at it from a business stand point. Give someone who is not Platinum a taste of what the "perks" are...and if they like it, they book more cruises so they too can become Platinum and enjoy those "perks" on every cruise. blondietink Posted March 15, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted March 15, 2014 Well, still can't decide if the platinum upgrade is worth it for us. We have never done laundry on a ship, usually just get to the port around 1:30 and it is an easy walk-on and direct to our cabin, we already go to the past guest party, we always do YTD, want to stay on the ship until the final debark is called, etc. So, that leaves a free gift and priority tendering. Humm..... still not sure and to book this perk need to book by 3/31. So, if I don't book by 3/31, I still have until 4/30 to book the $100.00 off plus $100.00 OBC which is also a part of the promotion. Think I will take my time with this. yogimax Posted March 15, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 15, 2014 CCL is offering a 1 time Platinum upgrade on a limited basis. You will receive any/all Platinum benefits for this 1 cruise, You jest??? First free cruises to non-Platinums... Now Platinum Status to non-Platinums... Speechless!
cruzn buckeye Posted March 15, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 15, 2014 You jest??? First free cruises to non-Platinums... Now Platinum Status to non-Platinums... Speechless! And I am one Platinum (should be Diamond, but they took that back), that is really not happy with this. FTTF made the priority lines crowded enough, now giving it to others who are not even Platinum or FTTF??? Really?? Whatever...
cruzn buckeye Posted March 15, 2014 #17 Share Posted March 15, 2014 You jest??? First free cruises to non-Platinums... Now Platinum Status to non-Platinums... Speechless! And 100 off and 100 obc... I'm not getting any of that... Also... all rates I see are as good for new cruisers as past guests...

Few Platinums received the free cruise offers. Not sure what Carnival is trying to say to us. First, they diminished the value of being Platinum (remember the free slot tournament), now they kind of thumb their noses. I'm guessing they actually want us to go away. Cruising Rules Posted March 15, 2014 #19 Share Posted March 15, 2014 Why is Carnival doing this? I can only see it as devaluing everyone who spent the time/money to get to platinum It's just another one of their "brilliant" ideas. Another insult to those who have demonstrated loyalty. It is truly amazing how many mis-guided (and I'm being nice) ideas they have come up with. You would think they are trying to chase us away. jay49307 Posted March 15, 2014 #21 Share Posted March 15, 2014 I understand the complaints from those of you that earned your platinum status. How can you tell yourselves apart from us commoners? Do you have a special handshake or something? I guess you would rather Carnival not do anything to encourage newer cruisers from continuing to sale with them. Sorry just my opinion. Whatever... How did they take back Diamond when there was no Diamond level before? Diamond is 200 or more days, period. If you didn't have 200 days then you were never Diamond. And Milestone, which is a different program, never changed either. You still get the same perks after your 25th, 50th, 75th and 100 cruise. Lyncoya Posted March 16, 2014 #24 Share Posted March 16, 2014 I received this offer in my " VIFP Offers" this month. The offer also included $100 OBC. The price of the cruise was so jacked up though, that IMHO the promotion wasn't worth it. The Platinum perks aren't that great anyway.
sjcruiser Posted March 16, 2014 #25 Share Posted March 16, 2014 I received this mailer for this offer the first week of January, which expired if I didn't book by January 31st. We hadn't decided on our summer cruise until February 3rd, so i missed it by a few days. My promotion including the Platinum upgrade, $100 OBC and $25 Casino cash. MY PVP was able to get both money bonuses, so I was happy since it was my fault I didn't book by the deadline.
