  • 4 weeks later...

Had our flights confirmed yesterday by P&O and we were able to upgrade to WTP for £550 each return, flying to San Francisco and returning from Hong Kong. It is definitely two pieces of free checked luggage each at 23kg per piece and one piece of cabin luggage at maximum of 23kg each plus a handbag or laptop case. Only one piece of free checked luggage in economy seats plus the same cabin allowance.

Flight back is at 23.25 hours so we plan to get a room at airport hotel with our Avios points and then just walk through the terminal to Departures. Hopefully we can check in our luggage earlier in the day and do some more sightseeing.

This will probably be our last long cruise or world cruise sector, but we said thst last year as well - we have low resistance levels :). 2017 will hopefully be family holiday to Florida as our youngest grandchild will be tall enough to really enjoy all the rides.

Had such a good time on Fred Olsen this year, that we would have no qualms at all in picking up some last minute bargains on his ships :)

Hi

We returned from Singapore at a similar time earlier this year. We had to vacate our cabin at 0800 (I think ) We did some sightseeing in the morning retuned to the ship about 2pm for lunch. Had a shower and change then took P & O's transfer to the airport at about 5.30. It worked out quite well, especially since we got an upgrade on the flight.

Did you have to make special arrangements to stay on ship until transfer time. Did you keep your cabin. Assuming this relates to the second Hong Kong day. Were you with BA. If so did you have any trouble pre-booking your seats?

No special arrangements except when we went ashore in the morning security , when swiping our cards, asked if we were leaving for good or returning.

We had to vacate our cabin at 8am or thereabouts. I never thought to ask to keep it just assumed it would be needed for the next passengers.

We did fly with BA but did not pre-book our seats, prefer to spend the money on other things.

Not sure what you mean about 2nd Hong Kong day

We overnight in Hong Kong on the ship and fly back late the second day - is that what you did.

Did you get a free upgrade at the airport or did you pay for the upgrade when you booked the cruise?

Will have to decide whether to stick on the ship or go with our original idea of booking a hotel room at the airport with our Avios points.

No we were on Adonia 38 nights Singapore to Singapore. We had 3 nights in Singapore pre-cruise.

We paid for world traveller plus and were upgraded at the airport to business class with flat beds, a really good end to a fantastic holiday. Don't suppose we will ever be this lucky again.

Just a point but if you have booked your flight with P & O then your transfer to the airport will be included so you will be dependant upon them for the time of your transfer unless you pay for a taxi.

Just to reiterate you could come and go off the ship on the last day without any problems. When we were in Hong Kong the ship docked right in the middle of town by the side of Star Ferries.

Are you on Arcadia, we are doing Southampton to Hong Kong.

Was your transfer time decided by P&O or was it your choice? Still not understanding how you could spend disembarkation day on the ship and use the facilities.

We are joining Arcadia in San Francisco and staying on until Hong Kong. Did Southampton to Sydney last year on Aurora and really enjoyed it.

We have booked WTP seats and want to try and pre-book our seats. Not worried about being upgraded to business class as it would spoil us for any future flights. Our daughter flies business with BA to the US for her job and she really enjoys the fact that she can sleep lying down :)

Hi

There wasn't a choice of transfer times.

We put our luggage outside the cabin the night before disembarkation and had to vacate the cabin about 8am on the final day. We took our hand luggage to the Curzon Lounge where we exchanged it for a cloakroom ticket. We could go and collect it throughout the day on production of the ticket, and return it. There was a member of crew there all the time.

We were free to leave and return to the ship just like any other port of call. We were able to use the showers in the spa without charge.

When it was time for the transfer left the ship and told security it was the final time(got a hug from one of them) and collected our main luggage from an area in the port building. It was very well arranged.

I concur with an earlier poster you will have to wait for the flight reference from P & O before you can book seats but check this with your TA

We have booked with P&O. Going to phone them to see if we can get any info on staying on ship on last day and also to confirm about the seats. Did you get the M&S voucher offer? When do we get the vouchers? Only 9 months to wait :)

Heard back from P&O that we cannot choose our flight seats until e-tickets released UNLESS we pay for our flights in full and then we can access the seats the next day. However, the flights would be non-refundable in the event we needed to cancel the cruise for any reason not covered by our insurance.

Decided to leave them as they are. We know we have WTP seats and hopefully we can get them together when the e-tickets are released.

They said we should get our M&S vouchers

30 days before the cruise, so just right for the January sale :)

You have a very good chance of 2 together as the cabin is 2-4-2 as opposed to being 3-3-3 on the 777 in economy or 3-4-3 on the jumbo. So in WTP all the seats are pairs as such and the A,B or J,K on either window giving the best option for couples

We did not need to wait for 3 tickets. As soon as you have paid for your cruise (given 3 or 4 days after) ask your travel agent to phone them for the locater number. As soon as you have this you can book your seats. This will be approx 17 weeks before departure e tickets are not available until approx 5 weeks before departure.
