What to wear cave tubing & zip lining

My family will be in Belize in a few weeks and have signed up for a cave tubing & zip lining tour with cavetubing.bz. Kind of a silly question, but what do I want to be wearing? Obviously, a swim suit and water shoes for cave tubing , but will I want some board shorts, too? Do I want long pants for zip lining? Closed-toe shoes? I'm thinking about just wearing Keen sandals for both, but wondering about the rest. Is there a place to change between the two?

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

We will be doing this in April too. I have wondered the same thing and have settled on a swimsuit, board shorts, either a tshirt or tank and my water shoes that are like tennis shoes. I have zip lined before and shorts are fine but you do want to wear shoes that are closed toed. As far as storing towels and such I am hoping someone will give us an answer.:)

We are planning to book with VIV tours for cave tubing, I contacted them and apparently they have change rooms there and they said we can lock our towels and clothes in thier van, Contact your excursion company they will give you some guidelines I am sure,

I am wondering the same thing and think I might follow your lead in the wardrobe department for cavetubing. My tour operator stated that they lock up your personal belongings in their van.

This is helpful - thank you! I have never been zip lining, so not sure about that. I found out our zip lining is first, so I'm thinking I'll wear my swimsuit under board shorts and a t-shirt, and then my Keen sandals for both, as they are closed-toe, comfortable for hiking, and waterproof.

Just got back from the zip lining and cave tubing with cavetubing.bz. They are amazing and even carry your tube to the start of the river. (Most companies make you carry your tube for the 25 minute hike to the start.)

We wore shorts and t-shirt zip lining with water friendly shoes. I had Merrell Barefoot shoes and my wife had a pair of adidas water friendly shoes. I wouldn't recommend a cheap water shoe for zip lining as it is a few spots that are decent hikes. I don't think pants are necessary.

You can change at the cave tubing spot in a nice restroom. (You can also change when you stop to pay for the excursion as some did but this is pre-zip lining) Some people got into actual bathing suits for tubing and others stayed in shorts and t-shirts. Only you bottom gets wet on the tubes unless someone starts splashing or you choose to get out and swim which they occasionally let you do.

Hope that helps... hit me with anything more specific that you want to know! We had Junior and Avatar and they were awesome!

They locked our valuables in the van but I always take a waterproof pouch with me for trips like this to keep my passport, cash and ship card on me.

This is the one I purchased last but I do not like the clip so I might find a slightly different style: http://www.amazon.com/DRY-DP-65-Waterproof-Case-Inch/dp/B000BJ41BE/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1394902126&sr=8-15&keywords=waterproof+pouch

Thanks for the tip and the link to the waterproof pouch! I have been searching for the right one to purchase for awhile now so I will look into this one.

I'm glad you enjoyed your experience and thanks for sharing!

We just got back from combo. I just wore swim trunks with sandals like Keens.

U want something with a sole. There is a 20 min walk to get to tubing area. Wife wore water shoes and complained about rocks hurting feet.

Take bug spray for zipline.

They do have restrooms for changing clothes and you can rent a locker to store your stuff. I wore my swimsuit with some gym shorts for tubing then changed into shorts and tshirt for ziplining. I wore Teva closed toe sandals for both.

We didn't see any living creatures cave tubing or zip lining. However, it is dark in the caves, so if there were tarantulas, you couldn't see them.
