Dress Code on Formal Night?

We are experienced cruisers, but will be taking our first cruise on Disney. We will be on a 7 night DCL Fantasy cruise to the Caribbean in April. Our adult DS does not want to pack a "suit" (coat jacket and tie) for the cruise. We know jeans are now allowed in the main dining room for dinner, but during the Formal Night what is considered appropriate for the Dining room and around the ship in general?

Well they do say a suit but a jacket or smart trousers or consider going to the top deck casual Buffett.

There is no dress code in the main dining rooms at any time; there is "suggested attire." The adult only restaurants do have enforced dress codes.

Formal night is no different in total lack of enforcement of any dress regulations/suggestions/code or otherwise. You will see everything from jeans to ball gowns. Most people make an effort to dress up (more on longer cruises than shorter ones), but it truly is "anything goes." Unless you plan to dine in Remy, your husband or son will not need a jacket or tie on the ship. A tie is NOT required in Palo, although most gentlemen wear one at dinner.

We dress up, but many choose to not do so.

Just off the Disney Fantasy last month .

Formal night dress was all over the map .

More guys in shorts than tux's .

Jackets were popular ,ties were scarce .

Many dressed casual as they did every other night.

The wait staff seemed to be the only ones wearing formal attire .

The $$$ dinning requires a jacket .

For the rotational dinning formal night he should at least wear a nice button up maybe polo shirt, nice pants, and maybe a tie. A jacket is not required.

We did not dress up...but we looked decent ...like we would going out to eat at a restaurant at home. Flip flops and shorts are ok too...wear what makes you comfortable..it's your vacation.
