Mahogany Bay Cabanas

We will be in Mahogany Bay in April and I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on the cabanas. I looked at the port schedule and the Legend and the Glory will be docked there that day with a combined total (at full capacity, which is likely because of spring break) of 6,300 people. This is why I am looking to book a cabana. Sadly as of right now all of them are sold out, has anyone had any luck with them coming back on for sale?

Yeah, I was looking into buying the "relax on the beach" package if we can't get a cabana. That package includes a reserved clam shell and it only buys entrance for two, we are a family of three so I emailed Carnival asking if it would be okay with us buying two. I am conceded a little because it's spring break and there are two ships in port, legend and glory. Combined that would be around 6,300 people.. did it look like there were enough spots to accommodate mass amounts of people like that?

Its worth every dollar. My sister and I got a Cabana and loved it. Air-conditioned, two lounge chairs on the porch, a double wide hammock on the beach, private security guard and a person to take your food and drink orders so you don't have to leave your little area of paradise.

But your sea-pass card won't work here so bring cash or a credit card if you plan on purchasing a drink or food item.

When it rains hard and everyone leaves you can stay and relax in your cabana, or you can enjoy the weather;

IMO the cabanas are worth every penny.

What camera are you using Paul and is that a fish-eye lens you used?

lady_cruiser,

I shoot with a variety of Canon cameras; 5DIII, SX280, X50, D20, and 6D The shots on land were with a Canon 60D that I no longer have and Fisheye lens. The water shot was with an Olympus 1050SW that I no longer have.

The cabannas are awesome and totally worth the money. We stayed the entire day, enjoyed the ocean, loved the hammock with the spray mist, had our own private waiter with great "dain bramage drinks", lol.

The only drawback, and I mean the only drawback is that the area is not roped off enough and random people kept laying their towels in our chairs, stealing our hammock, etc. I kind of got tired of chasing them off. All of our neighbors had the same problem.

We had a cabana this past December and just booked another one for Christmas week again. Loved it. I have read that security does not do their job of keeping people out.....our security guard did a wonderful job of keeping people off of the loungers etc. When someone tried he was right there to ask them to leave.

Agree with what everyone has said about the cabanas. We had cabana #4 in January. I would definitely book again. It was not that crowed when we were there and had no issues with people trying to come into the area. I only had two complaints. Our cabana had a BAD mildew smell. We only used the inside to lock up our belongings while on the beach. The other is, watch your bill!! The total at the bottom did not add up to each item listed and there was no explanation on the bill. When we asked about this, our waiter told us he added the tip in the total. It went from $96 to $126! But that goes for anything when you are traveling, watch your money. I guess they think when you have had a few drinks you wont notice and pay your bill and then leave a cash tip.

Thank you for these photos! This makes me feel better about spending the extra money on a cabana. In my opinion, it will be totally worth it to have our own space (and there is only two of us). Our ship is in port from 7:00am until 6:00pm. Do you get to use your cabana the entire time or is it for 6 hours as stated on the excursion website?

I was going to give the same warning about the beach as the above poster.

Besides the fact that the beach is eroded away with a steep 3 ft sand bank to get down to the water's edge, the sand under the water has also washed away.

Within 3 feet of the water's edge, I was chest high (I am 5'6" tall) in water and over my head within another two feet out from shore.

IMO, there is no safe play for small children or very short people to play in the water. Small children will be able to wet their toes at the edge, but that is about it because of the steep underwater drop off.

Go to the picture above where there is a boy in a blue bathing suit in the foreground. Look above his head him to a person in a white long shirt and hat standing thigh deep in the water about 4 feet from shore. That person would now be neck deep or over their head in water because of the erosion.

Don't think--book it and you will not regret it...

The trip to get to the cabana is nice. Once the chair drops you off you find the "hut" where you rent beach gear, sun beds, and so on. They take your S&S and you get escorted to the cabana.

The beach is private, but people can walk through, and security is on either side and will shoo people out of the area!!!! They certainly did their job when I was there....

They will get the cabana set up--chaise cushions and sun loungers by hammocks are in the cabana. They'll set em up, give you the key and tell you where to find the waiter for food and drink....if you want quiet, it won't be! The beach bar is a very short two minute slow stroll to the bar that plays island music....I loved it....had some great SoCa music playing.

My friend almost didn't get out of the hammocks, not that she couldn't, it was too inviting to stay...Me, well, the double sun bed on the beach was too inviting, but it was around 43C, and got hot after 30-45 minutes...so I went in the water....

Snorkeling--not good....All I saw was one or two really tiny colorful fish.....but it is nice to be in the water...

We got there at around 930 and stayed until 3pm, ship left at 5. We were a little on the WooHoo I need another drink tipsy side...damn the drinks are good......We quickly checked out the shopping and found what we were looking for and headed back to the ship...It was my birthday, so I wasn't tipsy enough, I bought a bottle of bubbly and finished it off at dinner.....

Mahogany Bay scored a 9.5/10 from me. It loses a half point for snorkeling...I wanted to see more fish...I guess in time it will get better...
