Buying Tequila in Mexico

I will be stopping in Cozumel next month on Oasis. I am interested in purchasing tequila to bring home with me. Can anyone suggest a good place in downtown Cozumel?

There is a liquor store on almost every corner as well as in the pier shops. Do your homework on prices at home and brands to ensure you are getting a deal.

John in DC is right especially about the DuFry shops at the pier. But if you want to look for harder to find top shelf anejos or reposados you can venture to the Cosi Liquor Store in the south part of downtown. or try the Mega Mart or Chedraui stores. Taxi drivers know where these are. Be sure to look for 100% Agave. If all you're interested in is Blanco or Joven mixtos then you might find a better deal on your cruise ship.

When buying tequila makes sure to look at the label that it say tequila as tequila is only made in HECHO EN MEXICO. OTHERWISE it is not true Tequila

Suggestion go to local grocery store where the local shop. There are two grocery store between pier and downtown. One of them is similar looking to any American grocery store I forgot the name. You will get a good selection at cheap prices. If you are collecting the tequila than get all three types of the same brand. I know taste is to individual taste. If only buying one bottle consider buying the darkest as it is the longest aged

There are plenty of places to taste tequila.

No shortage of places to buy tequila in Coz. I've found it in corner shops and liquor stores. Puerta Maya pier has a large liquor store and will letyou sample the liquor. Not sure how prices compare to elsewhere.
