Best way for newbies to tour NYC in Dec.

All of the hotels in the Times Square area have bars with nice views of Times Square. The prices are going to be much higher than you expect to pay at home. If you want something really special, there is a revolving cocktail lounge on top of the Marriott Marquis Hotel called "The View". Google it to discover if you are willing to pay the prices though.:)

I enjoyed the view from the Marriott a few years ago. The bar is at the lobby level...the 9th floor if I remember correctly. Great view of Times Square for sure.

 

I don't know if you can reserve a table against the window but if they allow it I would suggest to book it in advance. The bar is large but the window seating is restrain...maybe only 10 by the windows.

 

You will enjoy the view of the Statue on the ship when leaving NYC I guess. Hot tub, drink, music and the Statue....nothing like it !

If you would like to view the Statue of Liberty, you can go to the South Street Seaport. Many establishments were damaged during Superstorm Sandy but they have rebuilt many. Here is the website http://www.southstreetseaport.com
