Jish Posted April 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2004 My boyfriend and I, are planning to ditch our families and spend Christmas week on a cruise this year. We would prefer a Florida departure since we live in Atlanta, and driving would allow for more $$$ to be spent on the cruise. Anyone had any holiday experience or anyone planning to go this year? digby Posted April 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Four of us (all 'family' members) have just booked the 12/17 Oceana Cruise Line trip from Chile to Argentina which also sails to Antarctica. Looks like a great trip on a wonderful ship.
Rare geoherb Posted May 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I'd avoid sailing at Christmas or Thanksgiving again. There are too many kids for my taste during holiday weeks. Cruises the week before Christmas can be less than half the price as those during holiday week. If you have to go that week, look into a southern Caribbean cruise. Because of the cost of airfare, not as many families bring their kids as they do on cruises from Florida. And you may be able to get a better price on the cruise--enough to pay for the cost of your airfare.
tjosh7 Posted May 7, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Since we live close to New Orleans, and since that's about the only time that we can take off, we are looking at taking a holiday cruise out of there, leaving on the 26th or 27th. 3 Choices - Carnival Conquest & NCL Dream (both 7 days) or Carnival Sensation (5 days.) Anyone else considering this option? HOLIDAY - 8/25/2003 HOLIDAY - 9/13/2003
garykool81 Posted May 7, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2004 My partner and I will be sailing aboard the Dec. 18-23 itinerary on Holland America's Zuiderdam. Should be a fun time, though, I am not looking forward to being on a ship full of kids :-) Gary Kulash www.badelephant.com Carnival Holiday 8/02 NCL Majesty 1/03 NCL Norway 5/25/03 NCL Sea 7/03 Celebrity Galaxy 3/04 Celebrity Mercury 10/04 HAL Zuiderdam 12/
mtbny7 Posted May 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2004 Pied Piper Travel (which books groups of gay people on mainstream ships) is sailing on the Queen Mary 2 "Xmas/New Year's" cruise in Dec ? to Jan ? roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale. I've sailed on many PP trips and they are always a blast! Michael NYC
rolando Posted May 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 15, 2004 My partner and I will be on the Mercury out of San Diego for a New Years cruise. Talk about luck with no kids!!! This is an adults only cruise.....all 21+. May be worth the relatively small incremental amount to fly to San Diego.
