kimba6539 Posted March 22, 2014 #26 Share Posted March 22, 2014 I book mostly for itinerary but this most recent choice of the Breeze was a combination ship and itinerary Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Cruiseaholichal Posted March 22, 2014 #27 Share Posted March 22, 2014 As with most things in life- it is a combination ! In actual fact-- the sail dates and pricing are of premier importance.
cdamion Posted March 23, 2014 #28 Share Posted March 23, 2014 80% of the time, I sail for the ports, followed by the ship (combo of both) because I personally do not like the new giant ships and would prefer a smaller quieter ship. However, in less than 3 weeks I am heading out on a ship and itinerary that I don't particularly like because the timing and price were too good to be true. Any day at sea is better than a day at work!!!!!
JimAOk1945 Posted March 23, 2014 #29 Share Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) We book for the ports. We've been to the Caribbean, Alaska, and New England/Canada. Now the ports we want to visit are farther and farther away. Edited March 23, 2014 by JimAOk1945
leaveitallbehind Posted March 23, 2014 #30 Share Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) Both - independently and in combination. Sometimes its the ship, sometimes its the itinerary, sometimes its a nice balance of both. But always its because its a cruise. NoobCruise Posted March 23, 2014 #31 Share Posted March 23, 2014 1. Where do I want to go....Alaska, Hawaii, Caribbean etc 2. Which cruise lines I'm interested in and which I have no interest in 3. Itinerary and ports Then I pick whatever ship is going where I want to go. Although I'll do some research on here. If I've got 2 or 3 options for the same or similar itinerary and one ship is having trouble, I'll book the one that has better reviews.
sparky-elpaso Posted March 23, 2014 #32 Share Posted March 23, 2014 Definitely the ports - we're working on our "bucket list" of places we've always wanted to see. Then I check to see which cruise lines go there and compare itineraries and prices to narrow it down. We're both retired so time of year isn't a problem and at this point we're taking longer cruises to get the most bang for the buck from any airfare. Lady & Sir Posted March 23, 2014 #33 Share Posted March 23, 2014 That depends on what we want from that particular vacation (southern carib). Our last vacation we chose by itinerary....our next is the ship itself. (Allure)
I-Cruiser Posted March 23, 2014 #34 Share Posted March 23, 2014 It all depends. We try to do a combination of both.
