Just off the Fascination

The Little Woman and I are taking our 9th/10th Fascination cruise soon , back to back. We LOVE the Fascination, obviously. Smaller ship (it's STiLL big!) and fewer people, great service and food, 24/hr soft ice cream, a villa at Half Moon Cay, perfect!!! The Fascination is a great "all inclusive resort" in our opinion -- sometimes we don't go ashore for port calls, we just enjoy the boat so much. We bring our dominoes and cards, snag a table by the windows across from the casino and spend a great afternoon with table service and just the two of us enjoying where we are. Life is short, y'all -- we just buried our last parent last week -- enjoy each other and have your adventures while you are able. And hug those you love, twice as much as you do now!

Did you have a nice time ? We cruise April 19th on Fascination

Any tips you have will be appreciated

Unless you really like the ports you are visiting, sneak back early and it will feel like you have ship to yourself - because you will. The Serenity Deck is a nice quiet place to read - must go through Putting on the Ritz lounge. For people watching, nothing beats the middle pool.

Pizza and Ice Cream are 24/7 as is room service. The mixed green salad from room service is very nice.

Did you purchase the Cheers program? If so, please share your thoughts.

We are not big drinkers so we don't get the Cheers program. There is a limit of 16 drinks per 24 hr period so if you can drink that many, it's a good deal. Since it's $50/pp per day, it would take about 8-10 drinks per day to break even. I guess it all depends on how much you drink.

What are you thoughts on the food? Mainly the Main Dining Room food. I normally don't eat from the buffet, just the salad bar. And room service!

I was on her in November for the Second time> I love this ship, never felt crowded excellent service all around. I was on the Main deck mid-ship adjoining cabins, best Room Steward I ever had. My dining team in The Sensation MDR led by Michael also was the best, food excellent. Great Bar staff. Glad you enjoyed your cruise, we will be heading out on The Freedom in 3 weeks.

We ate in the MDR every night (and some brunches) and found the food very good. It's not as "complex" as what you might find on Holland America but that's not always bad. If you aren't a "foodie", you'll like it. I never ate from the buffet per se - only burgers and pizza (both good). The mixed green salad from room service is very good. I used it as a snack several days.

Did they have a full Band with male and female singers playing on the promenade near the casino bar, or still just the two solo guitar guys?

I only ever saw solo guitar guys in atrium and near casino bar but I could have missed the band. They did have a band with drummer, guitar and singers but only saw them at Diamond/Platinum/Gold party.

If anybody has any questions about the Fascination, I'll do my best to answer.

Have you been on other Carnival ships? I am considering a Fascination cruise in August but I've only been on Legend so I am looking for plus/minus comparison if you have opinions on that. :) It would really help me out!

Too bad to hear about spring break. That never occurred to me when I booked this. Around here college spring break is early March and k through 12 is over Easter. I guess it is different everywhere.

I have been on the Fascination and the Legend. The Fascination is smaller, the food is a bit better, and there is only one pool. I have been on 3 Fantasy class ships, and the Fascination is my favorite, even over the Legend. As far as ship. But there are fewer public spaces which make the ones they have a bit crowded.

We have been on lots of Carnival ships. We like the smaller ones personally so love the Fascination. It doesn't have all the goodies (multiple pools, etc.) but we feel it is more intimate than the large ships. Just our $.02. Your mileage may vary.
